You Can't Buy Knut, But You Can Buy a Polar Bear Bookshelf!

I am all about polar bears (obviously), but I'm not sure how I'd feel about shoving this nearly four foot tall Polar Bear Book Shelf I found on Outblush into my apartment. Although come to think of it, it would be about the size of a baby Knut, would it not? Humm - like having my very own baby polar be . . . ah who am I kidding.

Designed by iBride (pronounced e-breed), they are a family based firm out of France that whips up environmentally focused art and design that features animals of all kinds. But, even if this polar bear bookshelf did scream "Must Have", I couldn't bring myself to add it to the list. It's $6000 dollars. Yup, that's three zeros. It sure is cool though, right?

Will You Go See Hotel For Dogs in Theaters?

The Hotel For Dogs isn't a swank, professionally run facility, but instead one started by two driven children (Emma Roberts and Jake T. Austin) who let their imaginations run wild when finding an abandoned hotel on a quest for a safe home for their pooch, Friday. I got a sneak peek at this film – opening Jan. 16 – and must say: I. Loved. It.

First off, you've gotta go in with an open mind (obviously, this couldn't really happen), but I can't remember a film with more insanely cute dogs doing insanely cute things (kissing, pouting, posing, etc.). This is definitely the one time to round up any children in your life and use them as your excuse . . . if you need one. Most of the dogs were discovered (read: rescued), then trained to be actors in a noisy crash course – check out a behind-the-scenes clip below.

Will You Go See Marley & Me in Theatres?

For those of you who read the book (or plan to), will you be checking out Marley & Me, opening in theaters today? I already saw a press preview and, lemme tell you – it's a tearjerker.

After leaving the movie, all I wanted to do was go home and play with my dog . . . well, more than usual. I think I was touched by how much love the couple showed to their insanely mischievous dog and how, through it all, their "clearance puppy" was always there for them.

Although I think North could definitely give this mischievous pup a run for his money, I have to admit Marley was pretty darn naughty in the book . . . and the four-legged actor (Clyde) looks so cauuuute here at the recent movie premiere in LA. Good Reads: Fur Shui

You've heard of Feng Shui, right? It's the idea that the Chi (or energy) that flows through your home should be balanced. If you are a believer in the practice, author Paula Brown says the same principal can be applied to your pets! In her new book Fur Shui, Paula tells us how balancing your pets' chi can create a more balanced life for both you and your furry pals:

Just like Feng Shui, Fur Shui works off of the ancient Chinese principal that energy areas in your home correspond with a color. For example the health and knowledge area is yellow, and the family section is green. So theoretically, if you tie a yellow ribbon on your doggie's crate, he will have good health! And if your kitty is having socialization or family issues, put a green bell on him to nurture healthy family chi. Although Fur Shui is not a substitute for regular veterinary care, I'm not opposed to new ways to make sure North and I are in total energy harmony. Good Reads: Tell Me Where It Hurts

Since I have a hard enough time watching shows like Animal Precinct or E-Vet Interns, I wasn't sure if I would be able to handle a book about a day in the life of an animal surgeon. Thankfully, I gave it a shot (how could I pass up the cutie pie smooshy on the cover) and the book was well worth it!

In Tell Me Where It Hurts, Dr. Nick Trout takes us on a whirlwind journey through ups and downs during a typical day at the Angell Medical Center in Boston. Dr. Trout's humor and compassion for his four-legged patients, combined with interesting insights to modern veterinary medicine had me reading through the night – I couldn't put it down!

With plenty of horror stories about run-ins with vets that are less than desirable, it's comforting to read about someone who cares as much about our pets as we do. Do You Own Animal Coffee Table Books?

I could literally spend hours in the animal corner of my fave bookstore browsing over all the picture and instructional "how-to" books I can get my hands on.

When I stopped in at Fideaux St. Helena, I probably should have started to pay rent since I was standing there so long leafing through the glossy pages of books like "Little Dogs," and "Winery Dogs." I have plenty of these types of books myself, I can't help but stop and gush every time I see the cute pups on the covers! Do you own any animal coffee table books?
