Cat and Lion Cub Are BFFs!

Adoro overload! Arnie the house cat and Zara the lion cub are totally in love! Zara was recently rescued from the Linton Zoo by zoo director Kim Simmons, after finding the young mother lioness was having trouble taking care of her. But after six short weeks with Kim, Zara is now healthy, happy, and has experienced her first case of puppy love . . . err, I mean kitty love!It was love at first sight for Arnie when Zara was brought home, and they've been joined at the hip ever since! With daily naps and playtime, Zara and Arnie must make the most of their time together since Zara is healthy enough to be sent to her new life in an African wildlife park. I'm sure the cat will miss her, and will have to mend a broken heart after she leaves, but I gotta warn him – long distance relationships rarely work out!

The Scoop: Lilly Goat's Ruff!

Awwww. Lilly and Billy are BFF ForEVA! These nontraditional pals had an unlikely union – lil Lilly was abandoned by her mom (in favor of her two stronger siblings) causing her owner, Elizabeth Tozer, to began the bottle feeding. Shortly thereafter BIlly the Boxer decides to get into the parenting action, modeling proper, four-legged behavior to the goat. While many of us have pets with best friends, this has to be one of the cutest unlikely duos I've seen to date.

Licorice, Will You Be North's BFF?

Hold on tight, Licorice! This pup weighs no more than 20 pounds and, sitting up that high, I'll bet he has his very own car seat. Although I love seeing my fave celebripup go for a ride with mom, Famke Janssen, I'm hoping that her passenger-side airbag is disabled because it's a dangerous place to put any lil one. I am rather biased towards smooshies - and Bostons in particular, obvs - so I think lil Licorice would be a great pal for my boy, North. This fella's always so well behaved that my naughty rascal could surely learn a lesson or two! Does Your Pet Have a BFF?

North's very first friend was a Doberman Pinscher named Maximus. After riding in the elevator many times with Max and his dad – and seeing them at the dog park – the two puppies became friends. Fortunately for us, Maximus lived in a much bigger loft than we did, and North was often invited over for games of fetch and tag. When we moved to SF, North lost touch with his old pal, but that hasn't stopped him from making new BFFs at Pet Camp . . . so I've been told. How about your pup? Does your pet have a special BFF that makes his tail wag with joy?

Love Is in the Air! Knut the Cute Gets a Mate

All we need is love, love as Knut the cute is getting his very own girlfriend. Check out this stunning 2-year-old polar bear, Gianna. Originally from Italy, she's currently in a zoo in Munich but will be joining Knut soon!

The famous orphaned cub lost his human BFF after suffering rejection from his beary parent, and rumors have it the big bear is now lonely and possibly depressed. Sad. Hopefully his new signorina can keep him company, frolic and play, and pose for (many, many, many) piccys. I'm already hearing the pitter patter of little bear feet - that's amore!

Chip In For Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms of kiddies both human and furry! Since I'm no stranger to treating myself to a lil something extra for my year of hard work caring for North, I've got some ways you can treat the pet parenting pals of your own.

Stop by. Most dog owners would love to pass the leash off to a friend for QT walktime, so just ask - even if they say no, you can be the pet's indoor BFF for a couple hours instead.

Get two more ideas when you read more.

Pitch in. If you've got a sig-o who usually does the early a.m. or late p.m. doodie duty, offer to take it over for the day (or the whole week if you're generous).

Bring snacks. The way to any tummy and many hearts is through the mouth - save mom's time and bake up snacks for a furry friend (and maybe for the humans, too).

In Which PetSugar Returns Home to a Cat on Her Doorstep . . .

Here's my backstory: I live on the top floor of a small building with six apartments total. I came home ready to tune into Gossip Girl last night and discovered this cute cat wandering around. Now, my first instinct was that the pet belonged in apartment three, but when I knocked on the door, there was no answer. Eeks! Worried that my new, tagless kitty BFF would find its way out onto the street never to be found again, I kept periodically checking my hallway over the next several hours and the kitty was there on my doormat until my last check before bedtime at around 1 a.m. I was totally torn the entire time: While the idealistic animal lover in me wanted to bring the cat inside (imagining North and Kitty curled up in no time), realistic PetSugar figured that inviting a strange, seemingly friendly creature into my home could likely traumatize both North and the feline. To cover all my bases, I slipped a note under the door telling them that I saw what was possibly their cat roaming the hallway but still felt horribly guilty about this lost pet seemingly determined to join my furry family. If you were in my shoes, what would you have done?

Happy Second Birthday, Knut the Cute!

The fella I'd name the world's most famous polar bear (followed by Flocke) celebrates his second birthday today at Zoo Berlin! That means Knut got even more visitors than usual . . . and a special dessert. 'Cause, really, what's a birthday without cake and ice cream? Of course, bears can't eat chocolate buttercream (my fave), so his "cake" was made of vegetable in ice – well, I bet he enjoyed it anyway.

This bear's faced some tough times from dealing with fame to the death of his BFF and original caretaker, Thomas Doerflein earlier this year but he's doing a-OK now.
