Barney's Barking, Biting Mad as His First Dog Term Ends Soon

Don't get jealous lil guy! Seems like Barney (one of the two Scotties belonging to George W. Bush) may sense that another pup – one that we haven't even seen yet! – is already at the top of everyone's list. This pup is still super-duper cute as is his terrier pal, Miss Beazley, both currently residing in the White House. See how Barney greeted an admiring fan, errr reporter, this morning in the video below.

Pet Pic of the Day: Barney Can Play Fetch Too!

The reason I say Barney can play fetch too is because he can do other things besides be totally cute. His last Pet Pic appearance just absolutely melted my heart . . . and a few of my Sugar office mates' as well.

I know this looks like a lot of steps, but once you get the hang of it, it's a breeze!

First of all, join the Pet Pics group.
Click the pink "Share" menu on the top left side of the page.
Choose "Photos" and “Upload Photos."
Give your Gallery a “Title.”
Fill in the “Body” with details about your pet.
Click “Groups and Privacy" just below the "Search Title" box.
Choose the audience for your story to “Pet Pics!” in the dropdown menu.
Change channel to “Pets.”
Fill in tag field with relevant tags.
Don't forget to include your pet's name!
Click “I’m done” to submit content.

So join the Pet Pics group and share photos of your adorable pets! Yours just might end up on the PetSugar homepage.

This photo of Barney at his first picnic makes me want to wrap him up, stick him in my pocket, and carry him around all day. You know, just for anytime I need a good pick-me-up. So adoro.

Breed Spotlight: Scottish Terrier

The Scottish Terrier is an alert-looking pooch with a "heads-up, tails-up" attitude – the pointy ears and long muzzle make this one of the most recognizable doggie silhouettes around. Even though when I think of these pups I recall the black ones, they are also allowable in wheaten or brindle of any color. Scotties are small dogs usually weighing around 20 pounds – but what they lack in size, they certainly make up in spirit! According to the AKC breed standard, these trademark terrier characteristics are joined with a very special "varminty" expression. What the heck is varminty? Find out when you read more.

This word is commonly used in the dog world to describe a piercing expression that should also be very bright and keen – unsurprisingly, many terrier breeds should have these feisty characteristics. Very popular with US presidents, my research has dug up that several former presidents have owned these dogs, including Eisenhower, Reagan, and both Roosevelts! Oh, and don't forget these two cutie pies – they may look familiar as it's our current "First Dog" Barney meeting Miss Beazley when she joined the Bush family at the White House in 2005.

NPH Suits Up For A Power Walk AND Mandy on HIMYM, High Five!

Neil Patrick Harris was looking pret-ty tough in that Sesame Street muscle tee out for a walk with his boyfriend and their dogs in LA yesterday. NPH's How I Met Your Mother is one of the most under watched yet hilarious comedies on TV these days thanks to Barney (I'm especially fond of his clingy-woman-deterring pad). I'm hoping that having Mandy guest starring on the season premiere will help get a few more people to tune in and see just how awesome it really is. You know, that or the Emmy he should totally win. Speaking of Miss Mandy -- check out the first clip of her on the show! It's hilarious. Loooove her comedic work.

Hilary is trying to avoid the cameras after shopping at Barney's this weekend. She eventually gives up. She's got her dog and they're waiting for their ride. She really always looks like an Olsen - it's weird.
