Milk-Bone eBay Celebrity Charity Auction Ends Saturday!
I love a good cause, and Canine Assistants surely is one! This non-profit provides service dogs (at no cost) to children and adults with mobility impairments, seizures, and other disabilities. In honor of Milk-Bone's 100th Anniversary, the food company teamed up with celebrity pet-photographer, Christopher Ameruoso, to capture "Milk-Bone Moments" between celebrities and their pets.

Petchitecture 2008 - Going Green with the Animals
The annual Petchitecture festivities, held here in San Francisco, brings talented architects together to design some amazing habitats for pups, kitties, and fishies that are auctioned off for charity. This year, the beloved event went green and produced not only eco-friendly and sustainable homes, but some that I would like to see produced and put on the market! For select, lucky pampered pals, their owners bid at the auction and got to take a fab home .

Give back to a great cause this season with Farm Sanctuary's Charity Buzz Holiday Auction. The amazing opportunities include tickets and backstage passes to Joan Jett (plus a personalized and signed electric guitar), a surfing lesson with Daniela Sea (The L Word), and a vegan lunch in Los Angeles with Alicia Silverstone. Currently drawing the highest bid is the visit to the set of Californication and a meet-and-greet with star David Duchovny.

Recently, famous pet owners from Oprah Winfrey and Martha Stewart to Jessica Simpson and Sarah Jessica Parker were mailed these fab Smooch-a-Pooch Doggie Bags.
Shop Spotlight: Babies SF
One of Santa's little helpers at this year's Petchitecture event was Michael Cunningham, owner of one of my fave pet shops here in the city, Babies. He donated tons of tasty treats to please the furry guests, and buckets of goodies for the silent auction that brought in much needed funds for the Pets are Wonderful Support (PAWS), a volunteer-based organization that provides for the comprehensive needs of companion animals for low-income persons with HIV/AIDS, other disabling illnesses, and senior citizens. Since I dig his store (and his big heart), I thought I would give you a tour at Babies' brand new location at Laguna and Linden in the hip Hayes Valley area of San Francisco.
Green Habitats from Petchitecture 2008!
As you can tell from the partying pet piccys, this year's Petchitecture event was not only eco-friendly, but totally fun as well. The unique fundraiser to support the PAWS organization featured specially designed habitats that were auctioned off and all had two things in mind: pets and Mother Earth. Thankfully, that nod to the planet extended all the way to the inner workings of the event itself, which cut its mailed invites from 10,000 to 1,500 (printed on 100 percent recycled paper with soy-based ink), eliminated event programs, and had any posters printed on recycled paper as well.As for the designs, this one by William Duff Architects was my fave – with a solar device that cools the inside – perfect for your cat or small-sized pooch.
