When it's time to fly the friendly skies, I say no dogs left behind! But in this case, one pooch is missing. Sad.

I'm still monitoring the pups as the Best in Breed competitions wrap up at the Garden! Remember how three of the four group finalists from the AKC/Eukanuba show made it to Best in Group yesterday? Well, all of the final three have made it again today.

Even though the pooches of the Toy group were bred to be companions for people, many times they resemble their larger cousins (like the Toy and Standard Poodles) and have a lot of energy in those little packages! Of the pups competing this year, those were our top four. Any predictions on who captured the title?

Even though it was filmed in Long Beach, CA back in December, the 2008 AKC/Eukanuba National Championship premiered on TV Saturday night. Of course, this was a must-watch for North and I as we once again curled up with friends and food to see the pups.
North was pretty sad when Elmer the Boston Terrier didn't place in his group (and went in the bedroom to sulk), but the rest of us tuned in for all the results and seven finalists to come into the ring.

The time has come for the largest dog show in the world — Crufts features over 23,000 pooches! Sadly, it's not televised (live) and it takes place in England, so it's not something most of us can watch. Sigh.

This hodge-podge collection has a special place in my heart for my little North is part of the Non-Sporting group! I learned during last night's show that, not only is it made up of pups that didn't fit any other group, originally there were just two groups – the Sporting and the Non-Sporting. As new groups formed and split off, first the Hounds and Terriers separated from the Sporting and the Toys and Working split from the Non-Sporting, with Herding later breaking away from the Working.

Well, with nine groomers left, the competition is getting ruff (groan). Last week's winner, Will, got to split the remaining contestants into three groups competing for this fashion-show challenge. Even though he used a seemingly logical yet predictable strategy of putting three guys in a group together (assuming they'd know nothing about fashion) boy, did that backfire in his face!
