When I got word about the passing of Oscar – dubbed the "Met Bar" dog – I decided to round up a gallery of some of the people that considered this celebripup to be a pal. I was shocked by some of the famous faces – Gwenyth, George, Cher – that stopped for a piccy with this pooch in London over the years. Learn a bit more about his story by checking out this slideshow of celebs and the posing pup!

In preparation for Sunday's show, let's offer early congratulations to the AHA Pawscar winners! (If you've forgotten, the American Humane Association is the organization verifying the line "No Animals Were Harmed in the Making of this Movie.") Of the Oscar-nominated flicks starring animals this year, they honored Avatar, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. I learned some fun facts about the animals used in filming — see how much you know and get started now!

In my opinion, there are never enough furry friends in Oscar-nominated movies, even though one big winner in 2008 included a gruesome dog scene. I took a look at this year's nominated films and nominees, then tried to come up with as many wild facts as I could about the actors and the movies in question. If you think you know a thing or two (or seven) about the 2009 Oscars, take my quiz and see if you really do.

Every year in February, celebs are gifted with swag beyond my wildest dreams at The Oscars. This year, the mother of all award shows has taken note of the number of celebrities with pets — and apparently recognizing how much we all spend on our little companions — Oscar included some pretty sweet items for Fido and Sassy as well.
With past people prizes generally being electronics, spa treatments, and fancy trips, this year the goodies also included some high-end pet beauty products, clothing, and things that sparkle.

Looks like some pup is surely glad to be home again! I was happily surprised, too, when the West Coast Choppers' shop dog was found and returned last month, and even though the pittie became a bit skinnier during her time away, she's nearly back to normal now!
Both owner Jesse James and his wife pleaded for the dog's safe return, but, as it turns out, Sandra Bullock got Cinny back and won that Oscar (plus a Razzie, too) — happiness all around!

Last week, I brought you the sad news of this pooch's Long Beach disappearance, and she's still on the loose with the offered reward now up to $5,000! Owner Jesse James continues to tweet new pics in the hopes that someone sees the pittie — this sweet one nearly made me tear up.
Even his wife misses CinnaBun, reportedly saying that she'd give anything, including her Oscar nomination, to get the dog back.
