Shop Spotlight: Healthy Spot

During a recent trip to LA, I took a jaunt over to a little shop called Healthy Spot in Santa Monica and was blown away by all the cool products they have stocked on their shelves. Not only could they be called the one-stop-shop for all the high end and quality products you could want, but Healthy Spot offers up grooming and pet sitting services as well. Located a few blocks from the Santa Monica pier, Healthy Spot is a pretty cool place to be, and lives up to their motto of being the leading provider of fine products, services, and care. Judge These Baby Leopards by Their Baby Spots

All clean! Would you have guessed that these were leopards without me telling you? (Hint: It's in the spots.) Regardless of whether you got the big cats confused with their similarly spotted relatives, we can all name cute when we see it.

The yet-unnamed babes were born at Germany's Hanover Zoo on May 31 - weighing in at just over one pound then, the duo's about three times that weight now. And, with Saia taking such good care of her lil ones, they'll grow healthy and strong in no time at all. Check out a few more pics up close before you make the final cuteness call.

Zounds! Zhongni and Zhang Jie Have Dazzling Baby Blues

Not only 'cause they're super cute, but the recent birth of these two North Chinese Leopards is extra special since there's only around 100 in captivity worldwide! Native to Northern China (duh), the big cats have darker orange background fur than many other leopards and a unique pattern. If you look closely at their rosettes, you'll see a differently-colored spot within them – this is commonly found in jaguars but not in any other leopard subspecies.

Enough with the background facts, six-week-old Zhang Jie and Zhongni were presented to the city of Hamburg (and the animal paparazzi) at yesterday's naming ceremony at Hagenbeck Zoo. By raising these babes, the zoo will help establish new blood lines to continue a healthy captive population of the species and hopefully learn about (and solve) problems they face in the wild.
