Whoa, Mama! Tiger Gives Birth to Six Cuddly Cubs

Just call this show Tiger and Mate Makes Eight! Normally, tigers give birth to only three or four cubs at a time, but for this doting mom seen here resting up at a tiger park in Harabin, China, she gets an extra set to cuddle with at night. Lucky her! And it's a good change in scenery to see a few tiger cubs, since we're used to seeing panda news coming out of the Asian country, and Germany taking all the baby cat fun!

Long-Armed Basketball Star Saves Hungry Dolphin

Dolphins' natural diets usually consist of fish, but one dolphin in China's Hangzhou Polar Ocean Park Zoo decided to try something new and exciting - a pool mat! We all know how dangerous it is when your pets eat something they shouldn't, and the same goes for sea life. After the popular dolphin stopped eating and seemed slow and sluggish, the staff at the Chinese zoo had an x-ray taken of the mammal's tummy and discovered that he had eaten a pool mat from one of his tanks!

After a few failed attempts at reaching the mat in the dolphin's stomach, zookeepers decided that instead of performing surgery, they would call in one of China's top basketball pros to help out. Zhang Youliang - coming in at over seven feet tall - has exceptionally long arms, and was able to reach in the dolphin's tummy and pull out the pool mat. Thankfully, the star performer (the dolphin, not the basketball player) is recovering nicely.

Apparently this isn't the first time a dolphin has needed to be rescued by a long-armed savior find out more after the break.

Birds (Not) Behaving Badly

No birds were harmed in the shooting of these pictures – after all, they're the well-trained professionals of Bird Island in Shenyang, China. The parrots, cockatoos, and other fluttering fellas perform heroic sport feats. From bowling and bicycling to weight lifting and tightrope walking, it's all there. If you've got a pet bird at home – maybe a non-Wordy Birdy – do you think your pal would perform this way . . . for lots of treats, of course?

Eight Red Pandas Doing Great!

A Red Panda is neither a raccoon nor a bear so should we call these creatures cubs or kits? Whatever you prefer to label the babes, don't forget to add in adoro. The very endangered species often has untraditional caretakers – this time staff at China's Giant Panda Research Center successfully nurtured eight of ten newborns, making it the fifth year in a row that this unit helped these animals pass the critical stage after birth. Video: A Panda Is Born . . . And It's Caught on Tape!

Not only are they one of my favorite animals to watch on zoo webcams, I can't resist baby animals (even when they're tiny and pink). Watch twin Giant Pandas being born in China – brave mom, Guo Guo, was evacuated from the Wolong Giant Panda Reserve post-earthquake, and now makes her home at a panda base in Ya'an.

Wow, can you believe how little they are?! I had to watch that video twice to check it out closely. These were the first two to be born this year over there and, hopefully a sign of more to come in this breeding program to help the beloved black-and-white creatures.

Super Cute Gallery: Panda Plane Touches Down in Beijing

Hungry, hungry pandas! These giant pandas made the trip from China's Sichuan province on Saturday and are settling into their new home at the Beijing Zoo. There were food and (safe) shelter shortages in their original home of Wolong Giant Panda Reserve post earthquake, but they look like they're getting plenty of that leafy green bamboo now. I love watching them eat – seriously check it out . . . adoro – so see a super cute gallery of these pandas when you read more.

The Scoop: Pandas Fly the Friendly Skies Post-Earthquake

Last week's horrible earthquake in China caused devastation across the country. The area is home to many pandas, both in the wild and at several zoos and reserves. These black-and-white creatures you see here are chomping on their fave diet of bamboo at the Chengdu Research Base in the Sichuan Province. There are eight giant pandas from the Wolong Giant Panda Reserve – about 20 miles from the epicenter of the deadly quake – calling this their temporary home. Today they'll be flying the friendly skies in a special plane. Destination: Beijing, where the creatures will soon make a new home and be on public display at the Beijing zoo! Orphaned Piggies Love Their Doggie Foster Mom!

From unlikely BFFs to not one but two sets of "pittens," all these animal mommies are doing such good deeds lately! Meet Hei Zi, a dog whose three pups recently froze to death in China. During the same sudden blizzard, another villager in Hongdong city had his mommy pig die of cold, leaving behind eight lil babies. I bet you can guess what happened next . . . but see for yourself when you read more.

Four of the piglets were given to Hei Zi so this pooch could join the ranks of that Dachshund that fostered piglets, too. All four babies are surviving and growing bigger each day – so heartwarming!

Globetrotters: Penguins Celebrate Chinese New Year, Too!

With Chinese New Year celebrations still taking place around the world, I spotted pictures of some penguins getting into the spirit at a zoo in Harbin, China. I'm hoping the little ones didn't have to wear their custom-made costumes much longer than this photo opp, but they do look pretty spiffy all decked out in traditional garb.
