Do Tell: Have You Ever Impulsively Purchased a Pet?

I've got a good pal in NYC who, after wanting a dog for several years, finally committed upon spotting a box of abandoned puppies at a local market. Even seeing shelter kittens on cages streetside on sunny days or finding fishy faces at a pet store, I would often wish I could take one home.

Similarly, during a trip to the California Pet Center near Calabasas on Wednesday, Britney Spears went in to pick up some dog food . . . and left with a little bird, too. An eyewitness told PeoplePets that she settled on a yellow parakeet and bought a big, white cage and several toys for the bird before leaving the store. Of course, it's important to be able to care for any pet's needs both financially and emotionally no matter how much deliberation goes in, but have you ever picked up a pet when you hadn't technically planned on it?

Found! London's Striped Sweater

Huge sunglasses . . . check. Messy hair . . . check. London . . . check. Hmm, but what's this I see?! A cute, stripey top (on the dog). After some searching, and much zoom-in examining, I was shocked to find the Houndstooth Striped Sweater by DC at Petco on sale 'til 1/31 for $7.50 (originally $14.99). I'm wondering if Brit picked it up waaaay back when she also bought a goldfish at that shop . . . and a bit curious about the serious downgrading from the Kwigy-bo carrier and Little Lily dress we've spotted in the past. I couldn't bear to let lil' London wear something so basic, so see the more paps-worthy version (at twice the price) I've picked when you read more.

IMO, this heart rugby sweater is much more pantworthy. . . but let me know what you think in your comments below!

Britney made a pit stop at Pets of Bel Air last Friday . . . and appears to have walked out with a new dog! As shocked as I am by this addition to her brood, I do approve of the luxe Kwigy-bo pet carrier she toted out as well. Quite ironically, the name of this bag model is the London, and can be found online for a modest $119.

Now I consider myself quite savvy at identifying dog breeds, and this pooch looks like a Maltese IMO, but check out a gallery of Britney holding the pup – and shot records calling it a three-month-old Chihuahua – for yourself when you read more

Found! Lil' London's Dress

I'm not even gonna get started on Ms. Brit as a mother (to child or other creature), but she certainly seems to love toting her latest baby around town these days. Even if I don't dress up my pup that often, I love to know what styles celebrities choose for their furry friends. Britney's Booked Baby!

Britney Spears was in a great mood yesterday in her favorite pink wig at a gas station in Malibu. For the most part it was a usual day of driving, coffee and bailing on casting calls. This time the hopeful dancers at Millennium Dance Studio were able to audition but they did not get to meet Ms Brit. She skipped out on the event however, in a smarter move, Britney turned herself in to get her picture, fingerprints and other information taken as a result of the charges against her for the hit and run from September. Apparently she was at the police station for 45 minutes and her papers say she's a healthy 5'5" and 125 pounds. Another step closer to growing up. Now if only Britney could ditch the wig.

Britney's Low Key Rite Aid Saturday Night

Britney brought her second favorite accessory, puppy London (first being any brown boots, naturally), into Ride Aid on Saturday night to grab some cosmetics. Hopefully she's been reading Bella's Doing Drugstore series so she knows what to grab from the Aid. She was more covered up than she has been in a while (ever?), but you can't blame a girl for going with the sweats for a drugstore run. It's certainly better to see her taking it easy on Saturday night rather than out at the clubs. Here's to this week being even better than the last.

Britney Shows Off Her Abs, Puppy...and New Single??

Britney pranced around town in a number of revealing shirts (and that pink wig again) this weekend, usually accompanied by her new puppy, London. If there's one thing she's not ashamed to show off, it's that famous midriff of hers. While it may not be exactly in year 2000 shape, she's obviously been working hard to get it back. Speaking of the bygone days of Britney, rumors have been flying about when exactly she will release her "comeback" single. X17 supposedly got a little taste of the hot, nasty, last call at the club anthem as she listened to it in her convertible yesterday. Check it out here. I will say, it sounds like that lovable semi-nasally Britney croon -- who knows, maybe it'll be the next Toxic? Wishful thinking.

Britney Still Roams While Kev Keeps it Together for Kids

As Britney's situation becomes more and more shaky, the unlikely hero (that might be a stretch, I admit) in this saga seems to be Kevin Federline. Up until yesterday, he's been staying quiet during this ongoing ordeal, sparking bizarre feelings in myself that perhaps he's not only a decent guy, but a healthy influence on Britney. Yesterday afternoon while Britney was herself meeting with legal counsel, Kevin asked an LA judge for an emergency hearing regarding the custody of their two children who are rumored to be under the care of her mother. According to some sources though, K-Fed and the Spears family are working together at this point to help both Britney and their babies. Here's more:

According to our Federline insider, K-Fed made a call to his mother, Julie Bleak, on Valentine's Day asking for her to help him take care of the children. Bleak flew to L.A. on Feb. 15 (the same day Spears, 25, checked into the Crossroads Centre rehab facility in Antigua). Our source adds that Lynne Spears has also been present for her grandchildren, taking care of the children round-the-clock with Federline.

"Britney's family feels that Kevin has been a blessing and they are very impressed with Kevin taking so much responsibility," says a Spears family source. "Britney's family found out from the news this morning that Britney had left the rehab. Britney has not asked to see the kids because she knows she is not well and she does not want to scare Preston. She has no credit cards or cash. She is basically on the run at the moment."

Now I'm not putting money on Kev being an amazing father, but in comparison to the babies' other parent, he's probably the right temporary choice. DiaperChangeZao. Well, at least Brit's got her new puppy? How did she get her hands on that without going home at any point? Sigh.
