Oct 2 2009 - 10:55am I've got a good pal in NYC who, after wanting a dog for several years, finally committed upon spotting a box of abandoned puppies at a local market. Even seeing shelter kittens on cages streetside on sunny days or finding fishy faces at a pet store, I would often wish I could take one home.
Similarly, during a trip to the California Pet Center near Calabasas on Wednesday, Britney Spears went in to pick up some dog food .

Yes; at least 6.
1We talked about getting a cat for a while (since we were not ready for a dog) and one day, while at the pet store, we found this gorgeous kitten, and upon seeing her and playing with her, we absolutely had to have her.
Sometimes I say if I had just waited a while, I might have come out with a cat that seemed to like her mama. Either way, I am glad I have my cat now.
2^ I forgot to mention that the cat was purely hypothetical, and the whole going to the store and leaving with a kitten was totally unplanned. But she was cheap (but I think I would have paid just about anything for her). Her supplies? We went all out, and easily spent upwards of 300 dollars.
3My husband (then-boyfriend) and I had just moved in together and had talked about possibly getting a dog after the holidays. We went to look at dogs without actually planning on buying anything for at least a few more months. We just wanted to get an idea on what we wanted. I saw 7 week old collie/acd puppies up for adoption and when I lifted the one little puppy up, he nestled close to my neck and gave me the biggest lick on the side of my face. It was love at first lick. We took him home that day and I couldn't be any happier with my Benny.
4That's how I got my kitty when I was a kid. My mom, sister and I were out one morning and saw her and adopted her on the spot. I worry I will do the same thing eventually and get swept away by some cutie.
5yes - my third guinea pig. i had seen him a few times - he had been in there for a few weeks. he was the cutest thing - really small, all white with a brown "face mask" and he was always sitting in the food bowl. all the others got adopted, and we went to get piggie food one day and pichu became my christmas gift - though my fiancee had been planning to get one for me soon, i didn't know, and it was totally on impulse.
6Yes, a rabbit from the county fair when I was in high school. We'd had guinea pigs before, but at the time, we had a dog, a cat, and two birds. The rabbit quickly became a part of our family and we feel in love with him until he had a brain aneurysm and passed away.

8My sister and I randomly picked up some parakeets and a parrot at a yardsale one day... and my boyfriend and I bought 3 fish a petsmart one day... only to have them die days later
