Hungry, hungry pandas! These giant pandas made the trip from China's Sichuan province on Saturday and are settling into their new home at the Beijing Zoo. There were food and (safe) shelter shortages in their original home of Wolong Giant Panda Reserve post earthquake, but they look like they're getting plenty of that leafy green bamboo now. I love watching them eat – seriously check it out . . . adoro – so see a super cute gallery of these pandas when you read more.

The Scoop: Pandas Fly the Friendly Skies Post-Earthquake

Last week's horrible earthquake in China caused devastation across the country. The area is home to many pandas, both in the wild and at several zoos and reserves. These black-and-white creatures you see here are chomping on their fave diet of bamboo at the Chengdu Research Base in the Sichuan Province. There are eight giant pandas from the Wolong Giant Panda Reserve – about 20 miles from the epicenter of the deadly quake – calling this their temporary home. Today they'll be flying the friendly skies in a special plane. Destination: Beijing, where the creatures will soon make a new home and be on public display at the Beijing zoo! Beijing Rescue Dogs Have a Big Job Ahead

I know I mentioned Dogs With Jobs the other day when I introduced you to Ellie, the pup who has been caring for motherless bunnies, but these rescue dogs have a whole career ahead of them! Rescue dogs in Beijing animal shelters are getting a second chance at life, and plenty of new responsibilities now that they have been drafted into Chinese military forces as search and rescue trainees, and will also use their noses at this year's Beijing Olympics to sniff out drugs and bombs. Over 160 poochies have been sent to the capital from across the country, and from these pics, they've already made some real progress in their training! Guess who's stateside?! Gazillion medal winner (OK, exaggerating . . . eight) in Beijing Michael Phelps, who posted a new album of Herman on his Facebook page yesterday. I know we're not the only fans of his smooshy pooch, so I'm hoping he'll add more bulldog piccys soon - dare I say, frolicking around their brand-new home? In the meantime, I'll consider it unanimous and give Herman the gold medal in cute!
