These lil babes don't look much like Taz twinsies, but they are the real Tasmanian Devil deals! As the world's largest meat-eating marsupials, the famed cartoon character was inspired by the actual animals' ravenous appetites.
The babes are getting health checks, paternity tests and microchipped at Sydney's Taronga Zoo in hopes of protecting and checking up on this endangered species in the wild.

Remember Sam — the cute Koala rescued from Australian bushfires back in February? She became an Internet star after videos of a kind firefighter pouring bottled water into her parched lips and the badly burnt "bear" was later brought to a wildlife rescue center.
It turned out she had urogenital chlamydiosis (aka, chlamydia), a disease that plagues up to 50 percent of the country's Koala population.

It's official — I'm a fan of the Taronga Zoo's latest babe. Born on the Fourth of July (literally), the unnamed calf is already stumbling around his enclosure. Since the temps in Sydney have been averaging in the 50s, and he's just a few days old, he'll remain inside a special heated barn until he can go to the zoo's Wild Asia public display with parents, aunties and pals.

Born to a former Bangkok street elephant, Thong Dee (and dad, Gung), this two-day-old babe is the first native-born elephant in Australia! Already weighing in at 220 pounds, all he's lacking is a name.
For his historic birth, Sydney's Taronga Zoo is offering a naming contest for the little one.

Stop the presses, there's a new North in town. Granted not my town, and not even my pooch's species, but check out this penguin!
Tiny "North" was rescued along with his pal named – you guessed it – "South" from different beaches along the New South Wales state coastline.

They've done it again. And, by they, I mean Sydney's Taronga Zoo. Home to the insanely adorable Pygmy Hippo named Monifa, this Australian zoo welcomes a new babe to their clique of cute.

North and I have never been Down Under but, if we ever make it there, the new PawPaws Urban Retreat is first on our list. The grand-opening (complete with a green carpet) welcomed pampered pals and their people to a three-floor hotel for dogs in Sydney.
Not only do the services sound pretty sweet (doggie detox!) – and the design looks impeccable – but the location includes a rooftop playground and spa with nannies, chauffeurs, and even a concierge to make sure your lil one is well-taken care of in your absence.

I love giraffes but even with all the things I do know about these guys, I never gave much thought about how you'd get the world's tallest animal from point A to point B . . .

Well, well, well, isn't Monifa already quite the little media darling? I was already drooling over her piccys, and now this video. Just.
