I've Found My Local Opportunity to Volunteer, Have You?

As much as I adore my pooch, I've got some love to share. Even though there's no room in my home for another pet, I still want to get involved (especially since it's Adopt a Shelter Dog Month). Getting started is definitely the hardest part . . . but I found a great resource to help me do just that!
Visit Pets 911 to search for a local organization that needs help. The site tracks details about volunteering, fostering, and adoption opportunities by zip code. Once you find a match, give them a call or stop in to donate your time and services. Even if you can't walk out with a furry friend, I guarantee you'll leave with a fuzzy feeling inside.

Remember when Mýa and the North Shore Animal League kicked off the Tour For Life just a couple weeks ago? Well, now that the cross-country adoption drives have their engines up and running, check out all the people who cruised in for yesterday's event featuring pets from the North Shore Animal League America and the Los Angeles Department of Animal Services at Venice Beach, CA. I love to see celebrities backing good causes, and this certainly counts as a great one. This month-long cooperative initiative with animal shelters across the country not only raises public awareness about the plights of all shelter pets, it also helps hundreds of orphaned dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens find their forever homes. And, because I love looking at cute pooches finding new families, I couldn't resist sharing a gallery of some of the adoptable furries when you read more.

In the Spotlight: Mýa and Journey (her Dog) Kick Off a Tour

The world's largest no-kill shelter is bringing its life-saving mission on the road! Stopping in more than 20 US Cities to help save pets' lives across America, Tour For Life is the North Shore Animal League's month-long cooperative initiative with animal shelters across the country. The annual event not only raises public awareness about the plights of all shelter pets, it also helps hundreds of orphaned dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens find their forever homes. The Tour For Life hits the road on April 2 as two Mobile Adoption Units travel two cross-country routes simultaneously before a star-studded grand finale at NYC's FAO Schwarz - OMG, celebrities and frolicking puppies, I can't wait to see those photos! This year, Grammy Award-winning singer, Mýa, serves as the Tour For Life spokesperson – with her cutie pup, Journey – see even more pictures of the duo when you read more!
