Summer usually is the time for family road trips and, for most, this includes your four-legged family members as well. These are very much like the fire safety decals I told you about before, but are made to be used in your car. In conjunction with the decal, keep the Pet ID card in the glove box, so responders know where to take Fido if he's been hurt, too. Spring and Summer are obviously great times to bond with your pets outside and get reacquainted with nature, so there's no better time than this Fourth of July holiday to break in the shorts, sneaks, and summertime leashes in preparation for the many hours you'll be logging in the open air. No Wonder They Call It a Pup Tent: Tents For Dogs

OK, OK, I admit it: I'm a city gal through and through, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate nature! So many of my pals are taking off for camping trips this Summer, which leaves North and I here in SF to take in the beaches and day spas alone (oh, darn). But if we were to head out into the wild (or semi-wild . . . with a bathroom and outlets, pretty please?), one of these tents would be perfect for North. As you know he does not sleep in my bed (although nights in hotels can sometimes be the exception), and besides, I can dirty up my own tent quite enough on my own without four paws tracking mud as well!

Do Tell: Dog's View of Sprinklers - Time to Attack or Jump Back?

It's fun to get wet and wild, but not unsupervised! Some dogs will run up to sprinklers and drink 'til their lil mouths are content . . . which usually causes some of that liquid to come back up later on, if you get my drift. Nevertheless, it's fun to watch a furball attack the sprinkler - I guess the big "water monster" does look pretty threatening. How do your pets react to these high-powered hoses?

Do Your Pets Have Allergies?

Uh-oh, little smooshy Samson has a problem, and the name is pollen! LilPeaPod took Samson to the vet over the long weekend, having lately noticed lots of sneezing, droopy and goopy eyes, and one other interesting symptom: red, itchy paws. After a few painless skin tests, she found out that Samson has allergies!

Right now is the height of pollen season, and allergies aren't just for humans. Your pets can inhale lots of pollen as they walk with their noses to the ground and even be allergic to grass, just like Samson is. If you notice your pets licking their paws, scratching their face, or even an extra wet nose in the Spring and Summer, they may have allergies. Thankfully, it can be relieved with (pet-safe) antihistamines so your pets can enjoy the fruits of Spring, just like the rest of us.
