Stop and Sniff? Curry Spies a Show Ring Snack

Show dogs need to be top of the line in concentration — cheering fans, a judge (read: stranger) feeling them up, and a whole new location for stop and sniff.

Show dogs need to be top of the line in concentration — cheering fans, a judge (read: stranger) feeling them up, and a whole new location for stop and sniff. My favorite giggle-worthy moment at Westminster 2010 came from this Glen of Imaal Terrier. A first timer at Westminster, let's just say it wasn't Curry's first time trolling for treats.

Gifted with noses that can sniff out a wayward crumb in a crowded room or a needle nibble in a haystack, could your nosy pup stay on the right path or put on the brakes, Wishbone-style, to mouth-vacuum up a loose nibble?

(Plus, if you're as smitten with this terrier as I am, check out a post written by her co-owner, Rob Shuter, over on Paw Nation!)

Viewers' Choice: Westminster Redo?

As dog lovers but not necessarily dog experts, we tend to root for breeds we like, canines we've seen, or just those pups that are looking extra cute.

For me, it was all about this Frenchie, since he's a Non-Sporting type and a smooshy like North. Who did you really want to win?

Super-Cute Gallery: Sweet Sadie Sweeps It All

History was once again made at MSG!

History was once again made at MSG! Not only was this Scottish Terrier capturing her 112th career Best in Show last night, but she also became the first Triple Crown winner of dog shows after nabbing the number one spot at the National Dog Show, the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship, and now Westminster.

Owned by Amelia Musser of Mackinac Island, MI, she redeemed two previous green carpet flubs — the noisy crowd at the Garden spooked her in 2008 and the famous potty break in 2009 — and now Roundtown Mercedes of Maryscot (aka Sadie) is the 2010 champ!

Ready, Set, Day Two of Westminster — It's More Cuteness to See!

Time's ticking to night two of the 134th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show!

Time's ticking to night two of the 134th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show! This afternoon, pups — like this Clumber cutie — worked their way up to Best of Breed, and those finalists will walk the red carpet green field starting at 5 p.m.

I was already loving last night's winners from the Hound, Toy, Herding, and Non-Sporting groups and, on Tuesday, the fun continues with Sporting, Working, and Terrier pups before the big Best in Show naming at the end.

2010 Westminster Winners: Herding Group

Herding dogs can be tricky to own since natural instincts may cause them to try to herd your human family up!

Herding dogs can be tricky to own since natural instincts may cause them to try to herd your human family up! This group saw a familiar face — the same breed we remembered from past Super Bowl commercials and the same dog that won the Herding Group in 2009.
