I bought Sofya a new toy, JW Pet Dexter the Elephant, at PetSmart and she is sooo in love. Sadly, she gets so excited she sometimes misses Dexter altogether.

How Often Do You Use the Furminator?

I can't rave enough about the Furminator, both the original and the new deluxe line and this question comes to us from Community Member jennIRL in the Cat Palace group.

I can't rave enough about the Furminator, both the original and the new deluxe line and this question comes to us from Community Member jennIRL in the Cat Palace group.

I've reached a shedding breakdown (cat hair everywhere, and my vacuum broke!) yesterday, so I finally went to Petco and bought a Furminator, based on the recommendations of pretty much everyone here. (I also bought a new vacuum, but I'm hoping not to have to use it nearly as much, since that's what — aside from being cheap — broke the old one) and everyone was right, this thing is the best. Hobbes likes to roll around on the ground and have his belly scratched, and every single time I come away with handfuls of hair. But he did this after I spent just a couple of minutes on him with the Furminator, and hardly a hair came out. Hallelujah!

So now I'm wondering, how often should I furminate? Is it safe to do daily (or as often as the cats will allow), or should it only be done every now and then? Anyone have any thoughts?

Has Anyone Tried the New Everyday Isle of Dogs Line?

What's better than an endorsement from one of you?

What's better than an endorsement from one of you? This post comes to us from the Street Team group from member Delilah02.

Hello everyone, I have a Yorkiepoo and I have tried Isle of Dogs couture shampoos and conditioners in the past and loved them. I recently was at Petco in New York where we live and saw they have a new Everyday line and new treats and was wondering if anyone else tried them yet? I found Isle of Dogs on Facebook and, from what I read, people seem to be loving the new stuff. I did ask for a catalog on Facebook and some samples come with it, I guess. I am just wonder if anyone else has tried the stuff and if they like it?

PetSugar's Street Team: Moochie & Co. Mud Puppies Collar

This post comes to us from the Street Team group from member kitkatherine.

This post comes to us from the Street Team group from member kitkatherine.

I've tried three different collars and two harnesses before settling into this, a pink nylon one with a plastic clip buckle, a green leather one from the AKC with the clip buckle, and a red leather belt type collar. None of them held up. The pink one was ragged and tearing easily, the green leather one slipped loose so easily that she could slip out of it after minutes, and she pulled the rivets out of the leather collar from pulling so hard.

PetSugar Street Team: Roll 'n Clean Is the Best Litterbox Ever

An essential duty of kitty ownership is cleaning up the poop — can't be avoided.

An essential duty of kitty ownership is cleaning up the poop — can't be avoided. Now there are plenty of pricey products that come highly recommended (like the Litter Robot); however, community member Arcsis shared her love for an affordable alternative in the Street Team —this Omega Paw Roll 'n Clean Litter Box ($29):

My favorite thing about this is you never have to touch, or even come close to touching waste. You fill it with your favorite scooping litter, roll it upside down, roll back and empty the drawer. The end. Litter changed. I dump mine into scented garbage bags and toss in the bathroom trash.

PetSugar Street Team: Sleepytime Tonic

Even though it's called Sleepytime Tonic, this remedy helps nervous or anxious dogs in any situation.

Even though it's called Sleepytime Tonic, this remedy helps nervous or anxious dogs in any situation. It's also said to help with overactive dogs (I'm looking at you, North) for $13 a bottle.

Paxtonita raves:

It's like doggie prozac! Okay, so it's NOT doggie prozac, but an all natural herbal remedy — Just put a few drops in your dog's mouth or on a treat to calm down. I give it to my dogs before they go to the groomer, during thunderstorms, travel, etc.

Doggies Sit and Stay For a Bit O Luv Beef Jerky Treats

I just couldn't resist putting up this picture of little Samson as he sat nicely and waited for his Bit O Luv Bistro Beef dog treat.

I just couldn't resist putting up this picture of little Samson as he sat nicely and waited for his Bit O Luv Bistro Beef dog treat. It's just too cute! Bit O Luv's philosophy about dogs not just being pets, but being a part of your family, goes right in line with my own. So naturally, I wanted to give the treats a shot. Well, not me, but Samson and North anyway.

Bit O Luv makes all their treats here in the US without any by-products or fillers. And their jerky? Slow roasted. Sounds better than some of the things that I eat on occasion. If Samson's excitement to eat the jerky bits was any indication (well, let's face it — this guy doesn't discriminate), I think your doggie will love them too. Just make sure you check the feeding instructions on the back of the package so you don't overdo it. Just cause your pup is a good boy, doesn't mean he should be overweight too!

Opie and Dixie's Healing Paw Balm: It Really Works!

OK, so I go for my twice monthly mani-pedis and North sits at home and waits.

OK, so I go for my twice monthly mani-pedis and North sits at home and waits. I admit it, I feel bad. And although I wouldn't subject North to "pawnail" polish (hello, he's a boy!), I did treat him to a few paw treatments with Opie and Dixie's Healing Paw Balm ($15).

As soon as I opened the jar, I smelled hints of chamomile, lavender, rosemary, tea tree, and basil, which made me feel like I was at a spa myself. And after just a few treatments, North's dry and cracked paws were as soft as they were when he was a puppy! I've barely broken in the jar after about six applications (on all four paws), and for only $15 bucks, the price seems to be right for a nice treat for your pampered pup.

PetSugar Street Team: Pepper & Tanky Puppy Love Perfume

I have to admit, I was a little skeptical when receiving a tester of Pepper & Tanky pet perfume in the mail.

I have to admit, I was a little skeptical when receiving a tester of Pepper & Tanky pet perfume in the mail. But, after hearing about LilPeaPod's experience, I may just give my bottle of "Big Dog" a try next time North and I hit the town and don't have time for a full-on bath! She writes:

It was a rainy week in SF and, after a few walks, Samson had that "wet dog" scent we all know so well, even though I had just bathed him a few days before. We were headed to a family event, so I didn't want the little guy (or me) to get teased for being stinky. So I whipped out the Pepper and Tanky Puppy Love ($44) perfume that PetSugar asked me to try. Smelling like fresh baby powder, the doggie perfume did the trick for our day with the fam, and Samson was (of course) the center of attention — without a single stinky dog complaint!

Sweet smells ahead! Made and tested in France, Pepper & Tanky is paraben-free and hypo-allergenic, so it's safe to use on your furry friends. Plus, it comes in four different fragrances to satisfy your sniffer: Peaches N' Cream, Vanilla Woof, Big Dog, and Puppy Love. Would you use specially-formulated doggie perfume on your pup?

PetSugar Street Team: Kids 'N' Pets Stain and Odor Remover

It just goes to say that even the most well trained pet can still have an accident.

It just goes to say that even the most well trained pet can still have an accident. Be it an unforeseen, emergency potty break or reverse sneezing turned vomit, getting the stain and the smell totally out is key to preventing a repeat performance in that spot. TeamSugar member wren shared this outstanding solution of Kids 'N' Pets Stain and Odor Remover with the PetSugar Street Team:

I've tried a few and finally found one that really works –it's my new favorite thing. With other stain/odor removers, my dog would go back to the stain and sniff it, so I know the odor wasn't removed. Since using this, he doesn't. It works so fast and easy – I just pour over the stain, leave for a few minutes, and blot up with a cloth. It's worked on all my stains so far, dog-related or not, even fruit punch!

Sounds sweet – I'm thinking I may need to keep a bottle on hand 'cause I've been known to spill stuff, too!
