My Heart Melts at This Snow Dog Creation

I can't say enough great things about Planet Dog — not only does it have adorably awesome pet gear, it has a whole foundation to help working dogs, too.
Make a Dog Out of Snow

I can't say enough great things about Planet Dog — not only does it have adorably awesome pet gear, it has a whole foundation to help working dogs, too. What's more, company staffers shared this crafty canine creation on their Facebook fan page and, while we're short on the white stuff in most of CA, next time I make it up to Tahoe, I'm ready to re-create it. Get inspired and get started on this slideshow now.

Do You Remove Snow From Your Roof?

If you live in a snowy climate, you probably know about the dangers of allowing snow to build up on the roof of your home.

If you live in a snowy climate, you probably know about the dangers of allowing snow to build up on the roof of your home. From water damage to potential cave-ins, heavy, wet snow can really cause problems for the structural integrity of your home.

Luckily, you can prevent these issues by simply removing the snow as it falls. The safest way to do so is with a roof rake, though on less steeply pitched roofs, you can (using extreme caution), with the help of a friend or professional, remove it with a shovel.

Have You Been Snowed in This Winter?

Snow days were always fun for me as a kid.

Snow days were always fun for me as a kid. I loved the unexpected break from schoolwork, as well as the excuse to spend the day sledding or skating around my house.

Granted, snowstorms are definitely more of a problem for adults, who often lose valuable work time or must figure out how to safely get to their jobs during inclement weather. Even if we're tempted to try to make it out of the driveway during a fierce blizzard, it's often best to hunker down and wait out the storm.

How Do You Deal With Your Snowy Driveway?

Growing up, we used my dad's tractor to plow the snow out of our long driveway.

Growing up, we used my dad's tractor to plow the snow out of our long driveway. We still had to shovel out paths, porches, and decks, but I was glad that the driveway was taken care of by other means. Other folks have to rely solely on shovel power. How about you?

Do You Hire a Snow Plow Service?

I lived on a private road growing up, so we had to chip in with our neighbors to hire a snow plow service in the Winter.

I lived on a private road growing up, so we had to chip in with our neighbors to hire a snow plow service in the Winter. In general, snow removal is provided for public roads by the public works department, though. But some of us with long driveways may still have to hire snow plowers depending on your location. How about you?

Today it snowed nearly two feet! After shoveling a bit, I thought Harlow and Biscuit might want to come out and see what snow is all about. It was difficult to take Biscuit's pic, due to her small size and lightning fast speed, but I managed to snap a good one while she took a break. They both had a blast!

Bo's Holiday Included Snow and Storytime!

With the recent Winter storms, the first puppy got a special treat last week — his first snow!

With the recent Winter storms, the first puppy got a special treat last week — his first snow! Although there are no signs that he considers this a yummy snack, Bo definitely got in deep with the wet fluffy stuff and posed for pictures in DC.

Since the work of a presidential pup is never done, he accompanied Michelle and the girls to a storytime at the Children's National Medical Center, showing off his superb high five skills once again. I'm glad to see more pictures of the growing dog, even if he wasn't crowned your new puppy of the year, he's still pretty cute nonetheless.

Do Tell: Is Snow a Snack to Your Dogs?

I can barely get my lil guy to walk in snow, and I'm sure he wouldn't be tricked into thinking it was a tasty snack.

I can barely get my lil guy to walk in snow, and I'm sure he wouldn't be tricked into thinking it was a tasty snack. However, he hasn't seen snow for several years, and I've never tried to trick him into eating it, so maybe I'm giving his taste buds more credit than they actually deserve? After all, some pups like licking or chomping cubes, so I'm wondering if the ice lovers out there would also sample the white, fluffy stuff?

Zac Keeps Cool in Aspen With a Few Furry Friends

It's no doubt that Zac Efron is all grown up and looking pretty fly these days, but adding a dog into the mix?

It's no doubt that Zac Efron is all grown up and looking pretty fly these days, but adding a dog into the mix? Well, stick a fork in me, 'cause I'm done. Fun-loving Zac was checking out the 10th Annual Snow Polo Championship in Aspen on Monday, when he got an up close and personal visit from a few pooches that were on hand for the show as well. He got right down to Fido's level to play in the snow!

Zac has recently been away from his LA digs since he's been filming his latest movie in Vancouver, Canada, so he must be feeling right at home among the chilly temps of Colorado. But thankfully, he's got the dogs to keep him warm in the stands!
