Shampoos Customized For Scratchy, Shaggy, and Smelly Cats

Survey says most of you are not frequently bathing felines, but what happens if you suddenly want need to? While you can grab this foam for a quick scrub, I stumbled upon three items for a more thorough cleansing.
As the post title implies, each one serves a certain cat with certain ingredients:

  • The Scratchy Cat Shampoo ($13) is purr-fect for dry, irritated skin to relieve flaking and dander with Tea Tree Oil, Flax Seed Oil, Oat Protein, and Aloe Vera.
  • The Shaggy Cat Shampoo ($13) is paw-some for longhaired pets — it reduces shedding and matting with a two-in-one shampoo and conditioner by detangling with Vitamin E, Jojoba Oil and Aloe Vera Gel.
  • The Smelly Cat Shampoo ($13) gets out cat-astrophic stinks by neutralizing odors. The deodorizing product features natural fragrances of Oatmeal, Lavender and Rosemary to help smells begone, not just covered up.

For one small dog, North certainly has a cabinet full of beauty products to slosh up an entire kennel's worth of pups.

For one small dog, North certainly has a cabinet full of beauty products to slosh up an entire kennel's worth of pups. Granted I've got my favorite shampoos (and conditioner) to keep my pooch so fresh and so clean, clean in smell and appearance but a recent post on Dolittler got me thinking.

The vet was waxing poetic about the power of Dawn dishwashing detergent for oily pet problems like accidental dips in motor oil or skunk spray. Makes sense now that I think about it since that's definitely what zoos and rescue organizations use on wild birds after oil spills. I know what I'll grab if my pooch has an unfortunate run-in with something sticky — Fingers crossed that I won't need to use it, but tell me, have you ever tried this for yourself?

Have a shampoo (or something else) you'll stand by through thick and thin oily and flaky, post your review or tip in the Street Team group in the PetSugar Community!

PetSugar Street Team: True Blue Super Fresh Shampoo

Good thing there are plenty of other dog owners in the office, otherwise North would have a serious case of dandruff!

Good thing there are plenty of other dog owners in the office, otherwise North would have a serious case of dandruff! I've been wanting to test out all the shampoos I've had stashed in my desk for a while now, but if I bathe my pup too often, his skin gets flaky and dry. Thankfully, Samson was good and stinky (and needed to be fresh and clean for our Dog Day on the Bay) when I asked LilPeaPod to test out True Blue's Super Fresh Grapefruit and Chamomile Shampoo ($13).

I liked the fact that True Blue was not only detergent-free, but is never tested on animals, is hypoallergenic, and is even safe for the earth — right down to the biodegradable bottle. What did our tester like about this shampoo, besides the fact that it smells divine? Find out if it's anything to bark about, and check out Samson's coat in a before and after when you read more

Do You Use Conditioner?

I've been a fan of Buddy Wash forever .

I've been a fan of Buddy Wash forever . . . it's the very first shampoo I used on North! Its soap-free coconut base with skin soothing aloe vera (and just a tiny hint of lavender and mint) leaves my pooch super clean and not smelling too sweet.

They also offer a Buddy Rinse conditioning counterpart with the same essence as the shampoo, and I'm thinking of giving it a try. I mean I use conditioner, right? There are even more vitamins and oils in this product to soften, shine, and detangle my pet's coat. What do you think?
