It's Lulu's first birthday and she's not letting anything stop her from tearing into her toy cake. Thankfully, later at her party she got a real cake that was fit for a queen. . . and looked positively scrumptious! Mmmmm, cake.

Little yorkie Ace got the ole snip snip, and customary to the procedure, had to wear the e-collar for ten long days. I know pretty much every other dog hates the process, but Ace seems unfazed by the whole thing. He looks pretty chill in this picture, but it could just be that momma caught him at a good moment. Either way, he's totally adorable.

Naomi Watts has a baby on board in addition to Bags on Board when taking her two cute pups for a jaunt in Soho over the weekend. Ned (the Cocker Spaniel) and Bob (the Yorkie) look pretty chill so the one-handed technique seems to be working well for this walkie.

Earlier this week, actress Heather Locker rushed this cutie pie to the Animal Clinic in Thousand Oaks, CA. After sitting in the waiting room, her Yorkshire Terrier was eventually hospitalized with "looseness." Now, I've heard of many ailments, but this is not one of them. At first, I assumed it was something to do with runny poo (which I've kinda got on the brain lately), which didn't necessarily seem overnight-stay worthy. Although Giggle usually has some quirky news to share with me, this story is certainly no laughing matter. Turns out pet owners in the town of Windsor, Canada have to not only worry about other pooches at the park, but also aptly-named birds of prey.

According to a recent article, dogs frolicking at Willistead Park have seen some hungry hawks stalking the skies overhead . . . and occasionally swooping down for an apparent "snack."

One such owner, Mark Koppeser, says his five-pound Yorkie was nearly a meal for one persistent bird:

We heard a noise like a caw or a squeal. When we looked up, there was a huge bird soaring and it spread its wings less than a foot above Ginger . . . I yelled like you'd yell if your kid was going to get hit by a car.

Now one local bird expert is still skeptical about the story saying that it's the wrong time of year and even a small dog would be big prey for a red-tailed hawk, I wouldn't take any chances there, would you?

Well here's an award show I've never heard of – the 'Miss Canine Costa Rica 2008' contest! Held in San Jose (not CA), over 300 dogs came out to participate in the two-day pup pageant held by Spanish-language magazine, Pets Y Mas, and turns out there was more than one winner!
