Canine star of The Artist Uggie received the red-carpet treatment yesterday when he showed up to plant his paws in cement outside Grauman's Chinese Theatre. The first dog to leave his paw prints in the famed location, Uggie also celebrated another milestone — his retirement from show business — before a crowd of adoring fans and special guests. Even Rin Tin Tin and Lassie turned out to pay their respects and give the charismatic Jack Russell Terrier one more honor to reach for that they were lucky enough to receive: a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame! Best wishes to Uggie as he enters his golden years!
Uggie Dines With Washington's Elite
Move over, Bo. The first dog wasn't the only pooch of renown in Washington over the weekend, when famed canine actor Uggie and other Hollywood notables descended on the Washington Hilton Hotel for the annual White House Correspondents' Association Dinner. The thespian pup performed crowd-wowing tricks on the red carpet, then joined the silver-screen and political elite at the Bloomberg and Vanity Fair Cocktail Reception later that night at the home of the French ambassador.
Uggie's All About Gilded Hearts and Golden Statuettes
With a Golden Collar award already under his belt, Uggie attended the 84th Academy Awards in support of his The Artist costars. Wearing Chopard, the Jack Russell Terrier nabbed hearts on stage with best actor Jean Dujardin and at the Weinstein Company afterparty . . . and all this after working the red carpet at an Unleashed charity event on Saturday! We've rounded up his cutest moments and hope he's curled up in a plush dog bed, sleeping off the wild weekend!
Uggie Gets Huggie at the Golden Globe Awards
For one special pup, the world was certainly golden Sunday night. Jack Russell Terrier Uggie, canine star of Golden Globe-winning film The Artist, took to the red carpet wearing a bow tie and his dapper tan-and-white fur coat. The film took home three awards, including best comedy or musical, best actor in a comedy or musical, and best original score, but the best performance of the evening went to Uggie's theatrical tricks during arrivals and in the press room, where he achieved hugs and praise from his A-list costars.
