What Kids Think Keeping Up With the Kardashians Is About

We love the crazy things kids come up with, and a kid's point of view on pop culture can't be beat. After taking a look at promo pictures for a few popular TV shows and movies, my 8-year-old offered to weigh in on what she thought they were really all about. (You may look at the picture of the Kardashian sisters and think "Oh, season premiere," but a second grader sees something totally different!) We decided to contrast her point of view with those from the 7-year-old son of The Stir's Linda Sharps. Here's what the kids had to say:

About Keeping Up With the Kardashians:

7-year-old boy: "This is a show about three girls who go out and while they're shopping a battle breaks out and they have to use their shopping carts as weapons! But their hair gets in the way. They should have ponytails, that would help. The good thing is they're wearing black like ninjas."

8-year-old girl: "This is about some girls that get into a lot of trouble. They do a lot of bad decisions. They look sort of mean. Are they singing the 'Single Ladies' song? And the ones on the ends both look like Selena Gomez if she was mean."

With fashionable shows like Hart of Dixie and Gossip Girl on her résumé, it's easy to see why costume designer Meredith Markworth Pollack is one of the most sought-after stylists in Hollywood. We got to know Meredith and her thriving career earlier this year and recently had the chance to chat with her about Hart of Dixie's season two style. We may pride ourselves on finding the exact pieces on both Gossip Girl and Hart of Dixie here at CS, but we wanted to know the inspiration behind each chic ensemble. Find out what Meredith told us about the leading ladies' evolving style, must-have pieces to nail Zoe's look, and changes from last season's style.

CelebStyle: How has Zoe Hart's style changed since she has become a Blue Bell native?
Meredith Markworth Pollack: We're softening up Zoe's style just ever so slightly, adding some more color and relaxed silhouettes. Zoe is still ordering her clothes online and having them shipped in to Blue Bell, so no pastel frocks any time soon, but I think the quirkiness and colorful vibe of the town is definitely starting to have an influence on her.

CS: Should we expect to see a change in Lemon's prim and proper style now that she is a single, self-relying woman?
MMP: Lemon's look has progressed into a more contemporary direction and less vintage. She's becoming more of a woman of the 21st century now that she is single and thinking about her career and future. Expect to see more professional looks from her, but by no means is she giving up her florals and pastels.

Glee Style: Lea Michele Goes Superchic in a White Blazer

Lea Michele and her Glee castmates filmed scenes for an upcoming episode in NYC, and Lea's character Rachel looked impeccably chic in a black-and-white ensemble. Her onscreen style is normally less sexy and more geeky chic, so this polished nighttime ensemble is a fabulous change and one that is easy to re-create. Up top Lea wore a black tank topped with a crisp white Theyskens' Theory blazer ($675), while on bottom she donned short black shorts with black platform Marc by Marc Jacobs pumps ($295). A gold nameplate necklace and a black Marc by Marc Jacobs bag ($258) completed her TV style. Throw your white blazer over an all-black look to mimic Lea's onscreen style for your next night out. Her character Blair covered up in a fancy olive jacket and brown leggings, then packed on the fabulous accessories: a cloche hat, an orange-and-blue printed scarf, a crocodile-print Salvatore Ferragamo bag, and black riding boots. While this look is far too covered up for Summer, it would be perfect come Fall and Winter. While filming scenes for the upcoming season of 90210 in Long Beach, AnnaLynne McCord's character Naomi Clark looked sassy in a Rebecca Minkoff leopard maxi wrap skirt, which revealed her leg. Leave it to the trendy character to pair her leopard print with a bright fuchsia blazer, a dramatic black-and-white floppy hat, and a white crop top with cutouts in the back. But the piling on didn't stop there; Naomi accessorized with a long black-and-gold necklace, a chunky cocktail ring, and oversized diamond stud earrings. This look may be too much for a regular day out, but you can take notes by matching your leopard skirt with a bright pink blazer or your leopard tops with pink bottoms.
