Super-Cute Gallery: Sweet Sadie Sweeps It All

History was once again made at MSG!

History was once again made at MSG! Not only was this Scottish Terrier capturing her 112th career Best in Show last night, but she also became the first Triple Crown winner of dog shows after nabbing the number one spot at the National Dog Show, the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship, and now Westminster.

Owned by Amelia Musser of Mackinac Island, MI, she redeemed two previous green carpet flubs — the noisy crowd at the Garden spooked her in 2008 and the famous potty break in 2009 — and now Roundtown Mercedes of Maryscot (aka Sadie) is the 2010 champ!

The 2009 National Dog Show Champion Is . . .

In her 101st career Best in Show, Sadie the Scottish Terrier was the big winner at the 2009 National Dog Show!

In her 101st career Best in Show, Sadie the Scottish Terrier was the big winner at the 2009 National Dog Show! Officially known as Champion Roundtown Mercedes of Maryscot, this pooch finds her home with Amelia Musser of Mackinack Island, MI. The dog was a big favorite coming in and, once she captured her group, I was pulling for her to win it all!

You may recognize the pup from her Terrier Group top at last year's Westminster (where she lost to Stump) and I wonder if we'll see her again come February?

Rounding out the semifinalists were:

  • Sporting: Labrador Retriever (R.J.)
  • Terrier: Scottish Terrier (Sadie)
  • Hound: Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen (Cupid)
  • Working: Doberman Pinscher (OJ)
  • Toy: Miniature Pinscher (Major)
  • Non-sporting: Bulldog (Uli)
  • Herding: Bearded Collie (Roy)

One of Oprah’s Dogs Killed by Virus, Sadie Seeking Treatment

A spokesperson for Oprah Winfrey confirmed to People Pets that one of the puppies Oprah showcased on her show, Ivan, died over the weekend.

A spokesperson for Oprah Winfrey confirmed to People Pets that one of the puppies Oprah showcased on her show, Ivan, died over the weekend. Apparently Sadie, Oprah's newly adopted cocker spaniel who the world met last week, is also being treated for the virus and “is getting stronger.”

According to veterinarians, puppies around the country are suffering from a new strain of the disease called Canine Parvovirus Type 2c. Little Sadie was exposed to Ivan before her second shot so she is being treated with "plasma from hyperimmunized healthy dogs” (as you can see from the picture Oprah shared on her show) as a precaution.

As you may already know, Parvo is a highly contagious viral illness, that can attack your pups intestines (which is characterized by vomiting, diarrhea, weight loss, and lack of appetite) and cardiac system (which affects heart muscles of very young puppies), and often leads to death. The majority of cases are seen in puppies that are between six weeks and six months old, so be sure to get all your pups vaccinations before introducing them to the outside world. Check out PetMD for details of symptoms and precautionary tips.

We know all dogs go to heaven, but we are sure little Ivan will be missed!

Found! Sadie's Cable-Knit Cashmere Sweater

The minute I heard Oprah say Sadie has a Ralph Lauren cable knit sweater, you know I was off to find it!

The minute I heard Oprah say Sadie has a Ralph Lauren cable knit sweater, you know I was off to find it! Well, it's pretty tough to be certain, since the episode barely flashed on a photo of her dog with it on (which I think accounts for the shade difference). Either way, there's only one pink sweater still offered — this Shawl Collar Cashmere Sweater. Act fast — it's on sale for $69 (originally, $95) in S/M for your little preppy pup.

Sadie Makes Her Doggy Debut on Oprah!

I was pretty anxious to sneak a peek at Oprah's new pup, and was so jealous of my mom, who got to catch Sadie's national debut on East Coast time.

I was pretty anxious to sneak a peek at Oprah's new pup, and was so jealous of my mom, who got to catch Sadie's national debut on East Coast time. Well, everyone, her cuteness is well worth the wait. Although the pooch was named Amanda in the shelter, Oprah's calling her new Cocker Spaniel Sadie. (That name change should be no problem if she follows my tips on the subject.) Seems like the puppy was struggling to adjust in her new, very loving home but looks rather content now — see for yourself in the video below!

Even though Oprah brought out Sadie's three brothers who are all available for adoption at PAWS Chicago, there are nearly 2,000 adoptable Cocker Spaniels and cocker mixes available on Petfinder.com across the country.

In the Spotlight: Amy Adams With Pippy and Sadie!

Well, we've got some pooches that have been to pretty awesome places, but how many of us are lucky enough to have pups come along to a movie set?

Well, we've got some pooches that have been to pretty awesome places, but how many of us are lucky enough to have pups come along to a movie set? Ahh, the life of celebripups! I'm sure North is rolling around in envy at home (or sleeping . . . we'll never know). Back on track, soooooo lil Pippy and Sadie got to come along with Amy Adams while she works on her latest film, a Nora Ephron adaptation of Julie Powell's memoir, Julie and Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment, where her character attempts to cook every recipe from Julia Child's Mastering the Art of French Cooking! Sounds so fun and her lucky pups get to come, too. I've included a couple more shots of the cute trio on location in Astoria, Queens when you read more
