Last Fall my brother was gifted a ram, who was promptly names Ramekins (ha ha). For a few months Ramekins was given free range of Ian and my sister-in-law Emily's 40-acre farm. Ramekins made friends with Ian's Gordon Setter, Freya, and the two were often seen trotting around the property together. Neither would ever venture onto the rural country road, but they would explore the nooks and crannies of the property, from creeks to fields to outbuildings.
Unfortunately, the longer that Ramekins remained a eweless bachelor, the more surly he became. He started chasing Freya and butting her. He butted my dad when he came over to feed Ramekins one evening. He also had an unfortunate habit of leaving not-so-welcome presents on the front porch. So Ian built him a paddock and shelter, effectively ending Ramekins' free range lifestyle. Once fenced in he was perpetually grumpy, and even more inclined to butt people.
Keep reading for more of Ramekins's saga (and more cute pics)!
