This month, we're going back to school with our pets to learn training basics and more. But clearly some dogs are further ahead of the curve. Take Jack Russell terrier Jesse, for example, who sets the bar (and the table) for amazing doggie tricks . . . and keeps the house in order in the process!
As the proud pet mama of a rambunctious Parson Russell Terrier, I was thrilled to see the news that the Parson's shorter in stature (but certainly not in personality) cousin, the Russell Terrier, became the 175th breed to be recognized by the American Kennel Club! Though you might know the two breeds together as the Jack Russell Terrier, within the last few decades, breed enthusiasts have petitioned to ensure that both varieties maintain their distinct standards, regardless of how long their legs are. With a Golden Collar award already under his belt, Uggie attended the 84th Academy Awards in support of his The Artist costars. Wearing Chopard, the Jack Russell Terrier nabbed hearts on stage with best actor Jean Dujardin and at the Weinstein Company afterparty . . . and all this after working the red carpet at an Unleashed charity event on Saturday! We've rounded up his cutest moments and hope he's curled up in a plush dog bed, sleeping off the wild weekend!
For one special pup, the world was certainly golden Sunday night. Jack Russell Terrier Uggie, canine star of Golden Globe-winning film The Artist, took to the red carpet wearing a bow tie and his dapper tan-and-white fur coat. The film took home three awards, including best comedy or musical, best actor in a comedy or musical, and best original score, but the best performance of the evening went to Uggie's theatrical tricks during arrivals and in the press room, where he achieved hugs and praise from his A-list costars.
The royal madness isn't over yet! There's another new member of the royal family, and she may give Kate Middleton a run for her money. Yesterday, the Duchess of Cornwall adopted a rescue puppy named Beth from the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home in London, and we can see why: how could anyone resist that face? Beth is about 4 months old, and was left at the Battersea shelter last month. We're so happy that this rescued pup will now be living the good life!

Jack Russell Terrier Cosmo lit up the screen in his new film Beginners alongside actors Ewan McGregor and Mélanie Laurent. Ewan developed such a close bond with his cute little costar that he wanted to take him home after filming! Cosmo's breakout performance has inspired us to share some Jack Russell Terrier love.
Jack Russell Terriers are an amazing breed with tons of energy. Their origins in fox hunting provided them with strong instincts and lots of intelligence. They are definitely lively and loving little guys. In honor of Cosmo, here are some shots of Jack Russells, both purebred and adorably mixed, having an absolute blast.
I have a friend who often wishes she could train her cat to run errands and do chores — start the coffee, grab the paper, maybe run a load of laundry. Turns out, this helpful little pet already exists, in the form of a peppy Jack Russell Terrier named Jesse! Jesse may just be the most helpful pup ever, but what cracks me up is how cheerfully he performs his chores. Check out Jesse in action, and spend the weekend wishing for your own errand dog!
Now I don't remember the vet-student-turned-circus-employee having a sidekick explicitly labeled as a Jack Russell in the book, but I do recall a scene where lil Queenie climbed up on Jacob's lap, so the size of this pup looks perfect!
Speaking of size, we already checked out one of Robert Pattinson's bigger — 8,800-pound — costars and, since a large part of this story takes place in the circus, I'm sure there are even more animals to be spotted later on along with Queenie the dog and Rosie the elephant. Check out more pictures of Rob and his furry pal in the gallery below.

We've brushed up on the breed itself, but what do you know about Jack Russell pups belonging to famous people? Test yourself and check out some cute terrier faces in the process.
