PetSugar Q + A: What Are High Liver Enzymes in Dogs?

PetSugar reader Judy Dennis asked this question in the PetSugar Q + A group: What does high liver enzymes in my puppy mean?

PetSugar reader Judy Dennis asked this question in the PetSugar Q + A group:

What does high liver enzymes in my puppy mean? How do I treat it?

Unfortunately, it's hard for even a vet to quickly tell how affected the liver is by high liver enzymes and to ID the root of the problem. I'd definitely recommend bringing a pet in to the doctor to have tests done to gauge the severity.

One common supplement offered to pets facing liver issues is milk thistle. The Silymarin naturally helps displace toxins, acts as an antioxidant, and enables faster cell regeneration. It can be purchased in drops for dogs or cats.

However, there are also some foods that can help minimize buildup. Find out what to look for and read more

PetSugar Q + A: How Do I Housetrain a Pup When I Work All Day?

Here's a question submitted by PetSugar reader short stack in the PetSugar Q + A group.

Here's a question submitted by PetSugar reader short stack in the PetSugar Q + A group. Check out my tips, and offer your own:

"I am at work all day and need effective ways to housetrain my 1 year old puppy! How do you teach them to hold it in?"

We've tackled puppy potty training and pee pad techniques before, but this tricky situation depends on the individual pet. Personally, crate training my pooch helped with this matter, as dogs are reluctant to "go" where they have to rest. All day is a long time for many pups to hold it, so it'd be easiest if you had someone start walking the canine midday and then slowly spaced out the time between walks.
