All Dogs Go to Heaven

It was another tough year as many celebrities lost pets, and even a famed soccer score-predicting wild animal passed away! The votes have been tallied and Cesar Millan's pit bull Daddy (who died back in February) was your choice.

A beloved pet since he was four months old — and a frequent guest on The Dog Whisperer and four-legged ambassador for Pit Bulls worldwide — the 16-year-old pooch was surrounded by his family at his time of death. Rest in peace!

Coming just a week after her breakup with Luke Worrall and barely over a month since we welcomed lil Woody to her furry family, Kelly Osbourne's new puppy has passed on.

While there are no exact details at this time, she tweeted:

My life just could not get any worst right now I come home to find my dog woody is dead

Kelly does have her cutie pie, Sid, which hopefully makes coping a bit better. Still, it's never easy to lose a pet, but memories still live on in words and pictures — RIP, lil guy!

I'm saddened to announce the passing of a smooshy named Bug McGowan. Bug's mommy caught my eye when she talked about all her great rescue work with Boston Terriers, and now Bug has joined Fester in puppy heaven.

Rose McGowan just tweeted this photo and statement:

My beloved lil' girl Boston terrier, Bug McGowan, died yesterday. I am shattered. Don't know life without her.

Such a heartbreaking time, but it's nice to see that she was with her babe Bug 'til the end. RIP, cute pooch!

One of my favorite events every June is the World's Ugliest Dog Contest at the Sonoma-Marin Fair. I've attended in 2008 and 2009 and had the chance to meet several of the peculiar pups and their owners, including Dawn Goehring and Miss Ellie. Sadly, this Chinese Crested pooch passed away at age 17 (!) this week before making a trip this month to CA to compete one last time.

Miss Ellie captured the Ugliest Purebred title in the 2009 semi-finals but lost to Pabst in the end and hopefully is frolicking away with the 2008 winner, Gus, in doggie heaven. RIP, sweet pup, you'll always be cute to me!

I'm saddened to announced the passing of this tiny pooch, Nunu. The beloved pet of Lost star Jorge Garcia was hit by a car on Sunday before the family left for the airport and died in Jorge's arms.
The pup (who sometimes thought she was a monkey) loved stealing shoes while not resting and was a constant feature on Jorge's blog, where he writes:

We are burying her in the Pet Garden at Valley of the Temples in Kaneohe. Nunu hated the water so we couldn't bring ourselves to having her ashes scattered in the ocean. Three months from now you'll be able to find a bronze plaque inscribed with just her name there. If you'd like to leave a flower or a toy, I'm sure she'd love it.

I've received several messages lately about dealing with deaths of a furry loved one. Since I haven't experienced this since I was a young child, I wanted to put the question out to all of you in the hopes that your suggestions can help others feel better and cope with a loss.

I'm saddened to announce the death of Chance, beloved best friend of Kathy Griffin. She tweeted about his death yesterday and then shared this picture on Facebook adding: "He was a smiler & tail wagger 2 the end."
Chance was also a noisy one as I remember seeing her 12-year-old lab-chow mix on an episode of The Dog Whisperer a few years back along with her younger pooch, Pom Pom. Rest in peace, lil pup!
