My friend is training for a marathon and wants a special leash to bring her hyperactive Jack Russell on short runs to try to work off some of that pup's endless energy. She was temporarily looping the leash on the drawstring of her shorts . . . until his love for a passing squirrel almost left her shortless! Many of the handsfree sporty leash sets are made for much bigger dogs than her 16-pound pal. To learn why I recommended The Buddy Systemread more
Next time you're curling up to watch a movie and thinking of popping some corn as a snack for yourself, check out this version for your pup. Marketed as healthier for a pup than highly processed pet snacks, Woofy Pop is essentially microwaveable popcorn with dog appealing seasonings like chicken, pepperoni, and peanut butter. Even if I had a microwave at home, I'm not sure I'd want the smell of this bacon flavored snack stinking up my home, how about you?
Although this is obviously meant as a joke, the Anatomy of a Cat Brain seems spot on nonetheless. Especially the part about the short circuit sending your cat from Prrr to Grrr in no time flat! Although I don't have a cat of my own, I've seen a few turn from cute to crazy, freak out at a can opener, and have heard firsthand about how some have a tendency to ignore you . . . seemingly on purpose! Cats are definitely funny (and sometimes totally strange) creatures – is your cat afraid of something weird and obscure or do you just have a funny kitty story? Tell us about it in a comment below!
Thankfully, I'm seeing an upward trend of cozy works of art masquerading as pet beds sure to inspire daydreams of catnip and tennis balls! These aren't the same standard issue round, fluffy thing you find at any ol' shop – so I've rounded up some favorite styles on my North's wish list! For starters, this Domino black and white number ($84) looks comfy enough for even me to rest my head on!
There's plenty more, so check out the rest of my faves in the slideshow!
Check out that big doggie belly as Adam Sandler gets in on Hollywood's tote a pet trend! Babu looks a tad hefty and I'm thinking this was just a quick pick 'em up on the way to the movie set for Bedtime Stories in LA yesterday. If you're loving this pup as much as I am, all his pets (past and present) have a fansite full of cute, slobbery videos of them being, well, cute and slobbery. You can catch photos and videos of her (and his other bulldog, Meatball who died back in 2006) living up to their dad's humorous antics. To see more piccys of the pup and Adam, read more
From increased demand for particular animals like dalmatians or collies (that may later end up in shelters) to movies where particular breeds are portrayed to be exceptionally violent (Cujo, No Country For Old Men) and damaging their reputation, pets in flicks is a tricky sitch. On one hand, I can't imagine a movie with a killer Boston Terrier would make me fear North, but on the other I still flinch at swarms of birds. What do you think about the portrayal of animals in film — is the scene stealing worth the misconceptions?
I've seen these edible grass kits for cats popping up everywhere these days, and I knew (like dogs), grass can helps aid in digestion. What I didn't know was that a grass garden like this one from Cat Livin ($18), is loaded with a variety of oats, wheat, rye, and barley all-in-one, and naturally helps kitty rid herself of hairballs. Growing in 4-6 days, you can reuse the stainless steel container and replacement seeds are inexpensive at $5. It makes sense if your cat doesn't go out as much as your pooch, or is strictly indoors, that you bring the grass to her – and protect your hardwood with one of the three handy placemat ($15) patterns. Plus I'd like having a nice, green patch of grass inside my apartment – especially when living in a city where grass isn't always readily accessible (or sanitary)!
