What a week in pets! This week we launched I Do Sugar and are taking you through pet weddings, and giving you tips on including the besties in your big day. Plus, we've been rocking out with our pets, and even played some April Fool's jokes on you! Can you tell me what else we talked about? Take my quiz and tell me if you've been paying attention!
Oprah opened today's show by saying it was for "anybody, anywhere who loves a dog, has ever loved a dog or just cares about their basic right to human treatment." She dedicated the show to her spaniel, Sophie, who passed away on March 10, saying:
Sophie gave me 13 years of pure unconditional love. She was the true love in my life. In fact, she's been one of the greatest reasons for me to be a kinder, more gentler person.
The tribute video, which Oprah's team put together for her, is incredibly moving. See for yourself, but before you start, you might want to grab a tissue.
Why hello there, little precious! This pittie darling is named Caddy . . . and she's growing up so quickly! Proud pet of amh678, she's now a big girl at seven months old (and at almost 38 pounds). I guess sitting around being adoro all day isn't quite her style because she seems to want to play on Sugar with her mom! Check out Caddy's (painfully) cute navigation of TeamSugar – she had sooo much fun she got all worn out, but wake her up soon and tell her she's our Pet of the Week!
If you haven't had your fill of dog shows over the past few months, from Wesminster to the AKC/Eukanuba show, then you're in luck. From the channel that brings you thePuppy Bowl, Animal Planet's own Dog Championships air tonight (April 5) at 8pm e/p.
This multi-city competition starts out tonight in Portland, Oregon, then makes its way across the country to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania where the top pooches from Oregon battle it out with the new PA pups. The third stop on the tour is Houston, Texas, which brings all three groups to compete for "Best in Show". So intense, right!?
While cruising through the pet section of the Japanese dollar store, I happened upon a collection of Pup Belly Warmers. In most ways, they are simply pet sweaters, designed to keep your animal warm; however, they don't have holes for limbs. Innnnnteresting. After staring at them for a few minutes, I decided I'd categorize them as leg warmers for your puppy's belly. At about $4 a pop they certainly don't compare to the cozy Juicy Couture sweater Blake Lively's dog sports, but they're definitely unique. Do you think your pet has a chilly tum or would he wanna wiggle his way right out of this idea?
When I learned from my pal, BuzzSugar, about the new Martin Scorsese documentary Shine a Light (opening today), I knew I had to share fun Rolling Stones-themed pet gear right now! While we've definitely been getting North in on the rocker pet trend, why not let him share music (I think) he likes listening to. While some of the items are right up his alley – like hoodies for early morning breaks – I can't exactly see him in coveralls . . . or overalls. But the trademark tongue logo does resemble him after a hilly walk, so check out all the gear when you read more
In this week's episode of How I Met Your Mother Neil Patrick Harris' lady-killer character attempted to pick up a woman at a pet store. He was unsuccessful, but his attempt made me realize how often people use cute pets to strike up conversations with strangers.
Is it just me or do people become more attractive when they are with their pets?
