Happy May, animal lovers! For such a pretty month, I wanted to share some eye-catching products. I've got ideas to put a lil spring in your step and theirs – the weather's warming up, flowers are blooming, and it's time to play! Check out my monthly must-haves in this slideshow!
It's that time again – a TeamSugar user needs our help with her three kitties, two of which (Chloe and Lucky) are shown above. All three adopted cats are around six years old and have made their home with hottpink and her husband for some time now. The whole fam is moving and she's uncertain how to get her car- and change-fearing cats used to the move and the new place. Please offer your advice after checking out her story when you read more
It's time to think back to your elementary school days – did you ever have a creature in class? My friend's school had an "office dog" that belonged to the principal . . . and I know if, I went there, I would have been trying to find excuses to go to the office! Remember that plotline from several sitcoms in years' past, child would take "pet" home, pet would meet its untimely end, and the frantic search for the replacement would begin. From official school pets to animals visiting with their owners, was this the case with you? As always if you remember the exact type – and name – of a school pet, don't forget to share in your comments below.
As you can tell from the partying pet piccys, this year's Petchitecture event was not only eco-friendly, but totally fun as well. The unique fundraiser to support the PAWS organization featured specially designed habitats that were auctioned off and all had two things in mind: pets and Mother Earth. Thankfully, that nod to the planet extended all the way to the inner workings of the event itself, which cut its mailed invites from 10,000 to 1,500 (printed on 100 percent recycled paper with soy-based ink), eliminated event programs, and had any posters printed on recycled paper as well.As for the designs, this one by William Duff Architects was my fave – with a solar device that cools the inside – perfect for your cat or small-sized pooch. It didn't stop there as the event featured tons of genius and hip designs! Check out more in the gallery when you read more
From time to time I find some really great stuff while cruising around on Etsy. Whether it be unique doggie duds, or a totally awesome handmade cat tree for those kitties, I always get pangs of jealousy from the crafty folk with time to whip up interesting and (quite durable) pet goods on their own.
Take the beds from Kept Pets ($80-$120), for example – these handmade pet pillows are perfect for those lazy Sundays on the porch, or after a full day at the dog park. Stuffed with a one-inch foam insert, the pillowcases are removable, so you can keep them clean and looking new. Thankfully Kept has their own website to go along with their Etsy shop, which will give you care instructions and more info about this Brooklyn-based company.
Here I am, always looking for an excuse to brush up on wild animal knowledge! In honor of today's holiday, Save the Rhino Day, (and with the recent birth of Manjula), I wanted to see if any of you are game to become rhinoceros experts. Test your knowledge and, hey, maybe you'll learn something!
