Brrrrr, the temperatures are dropping and Winter's nearly here. Sigh. While we seemed a bit divided on the rain, how do your pets feel about the snow? Any of them as excited (or more!) than lil Lexi here? I wanna hear all about it in the comments below!
'Tis the season of holiday travels and treating those you love . . . even the four-legged family! With something for everyone on your list, check out my monthly must haves with an extra dose of cute when you start this slideshow!
Win One of Two Laptops From Windows! geeksugar is getting into the holiday spirit by giving away two hot new laptops! The first is the Windows Vista powered Acer Aspire Gemstone Blue Notebook, which comes with Dolby Home Theater sound and a CineCrystal full 16-inch HD display. The second is a Windows Vista powered Sony VAIO CS laptop that weighs only 5.7 pounds and comes with an Intel Centrino 2 processor, 4GB of RAM, and a whopping 320GB hard drive. Who doesn't want one?!
Oh, by golly, it's a holly jolly dog show this year! That's right, I'm not just caught up in Holiday mania, but the winner of the 2008 National Dog Show was this pretty Pointer, Holly. Her official show name: Champion Cookieland Seasyde Hollyberry!
The three-year-old pup hails from Marstons Mills, Mass. and took home the big title on the event which aired on Thanksgiving Day, adding to 95 Best In Show awards won since Sept. 2007. I'm thinking she's one to watch once Westminster rolls around in February . . . especially with that second place group finish in 2008.
Find out which breeds came out on top of all six groups and see more piccys of Holly when you read more
Did you ever play pretend when you were a kid? I don't know if it was because I was an only child, but I made up all kinds of stories and adventures in my head. So when I saw this photo of Rocky in the window, I figured he was also playing pretend. My imagination tells me he's either been falsely accused of a crime and is waiting for his appeal in jail, or he's looking out of a boat porthole as he makes his way to a far off city. See? I told you I have a big imagination.
Congrats to Rocky and Fallen85 for being chosen as our Pet Pic of the Day! Have you submitted your favorite photos to our Pet Pics group? Hop to it — you may see your furry pals on the pages of PetSugar!
Bulldogs, along with Boxers, Bostons, Persians, and Himalayans (to name a few), fall into a group I like to affectionately call smooshies based on that unique face shape. They all have brachycephalic skulls – "brachy" means shortened and "cephalic" means head. This creates the wheezes, snores, and snorts commonly coming from their mouths, but also causes another unwelcome emission . . . gas.
Along with narrower nostrils and wind pipes, it can take a greater effort for them to breathe through the nose. Then, when eating, dogs with smushed faces tend to inhale (literally), not chew their food, and typically suck in quite a bit of air in the process, which makes them rather gassy on the other end, too.
What can you do about it? Pick up a bowl to help pets eat, and drink, slower and ingest less air.
Another TeamSugar member needs our help! Our latest question comes from crystal tomlin26 who's in a sad predicament with her precious pets. She writes:
We live in a condo complex in California where they have not enforced the one pet rule in the 4.5 years that we have lived there, and now they are. I really don't want to have to get rid of my babies – could there be any possible solutions that I haven't come up with?
If anyone's experienced this situation before or has any advice, we'd all appreciate it.
