Sniff Out Your Pet's Activity With the Sniftag

Curious what your pet is up to during the day, or how much exercise he really gets with your expensive dog walker? Wonder no more — the Sniftag can give you all the answers you need, and then some. All you need is an Internet connection . . . and the Sniftag, of course.

It's a sort of pedometer (or maybe more appropriate, a "pawdometer"?) that tracks your pet's activities — everything from walking and running to lying down and standing still — then records it in your pet's online profile for you to monitor and adjust if necessary. Plus, if you meet some other pooches while on one of your walkies, and they also have a Sniftag, you can compare activity levels since the Sniftags "talk" to each other and share simple stats. You can even add your new four-legged pals as buddies on your profile later. Don't worry, Sniftag would never share personal (or private) info!

Sipura and Larisa Have Wandering Eyes

There's double the trouble(some) cuteness with these twins! Meet baby panthers Larisa and Sipura born on Apr. 26 at Tierpark Berlin. That's the same German zoo as Antares and Knut so I'm predicting they'll soon be scene stealers, too

Making a media debut yesterday, the black panther babes result from melanism (abnormally high deposits of melanin) of either leopards or jaguars. We may know the difference between their spotted relatives but I can't tell these two apart, can you?

Alterna-Use For These Lovely Log Bowls: Doggie Bowls!

I came across these Log Bowls as I was cruising Craftzine the other day, and drooling (from me, not North) quickly commenced. Although I wouldn't pass up the chance to see these in my cupboard, I had a grand idea on how to talk myself into buying a few: use them as doggie bowls instead!

Since these are all handmade from local trees, then artfully put together with a glass bowl by skilled craftsmen, I'm guessing the price for a whole set is pretty steep. But with the varying sizes and heights, it would make buying a platform almost a nonissue, so incorporating one or two shouldn't be too hard for my pocketbook to handle. Have you ever used human bowls as doggie bowls?

Baby Tiger's Stoked For a Fully Stocked Toy Box

Oh, silly tiger! That's a toy, not a snack. See this new German babe (born April 5) eat, rest, and generally look adorable . . . he probably won't be as ready for a cuddle when reaching a full size of around 600 pounds! For now though, he's all (big) ears and into open arms.

In case you're wondering, this is a white Bengal Tiger related to the orangy variety. No matter what color they are, no two tigers are the same and no two stripes are the same. The patterns are created by different skin pigmentation, which grows different colored hair in those lovely blends.

Hi, Nigel! Meet Ashanti's Furry Costar From The Wiz

Some pups are born into famous families — like Moose's son, Enzo, both of whom played Eddie on Frasier. Others are discovered, including Papi from Beverly Hills Chihuahua and Nigel, Ashanti's costar in the latest Broadway production of The Wiz.
Abandoned on the streets of Arkansas, Nigel found a temporary home at the Northeast Arkansas Humane Society before he was "discovered" on its website. Acclaimed animal trainer Bill Berloni said:

Nigel's headshot called out to me. After thirty years of rescuing dogs for Broadway shows which began with Sandy (who shot to stardom in the original production of Annie), I know talent when I see it. After speaking to the shelter about his personality I knew he had star potential. I predict a great future for him. He is as smart as Sandy with the right amount of Bruiser (from Legally Blonde).

The two attended the aptly named "There's No Place Like Home" dog adoption day over the weekend in NYC, and their play opens June 12. Check out more pictures below.

Lioness Kisses Her Blind Babies!

Can't you see your mama showering you with love? Well, while the cubs surely feel that tongue, their eyes won't open for about three weeks so the babies are technically blind. The four tiny ones were just born at Denmark's Aalborg Zoo and appeared to be pretty well protected by that watchful eye. Like any proud parent would do, of course. See the cute ones close up below!

Will You Go See Disney/Pixar's Up?

I got the chance to screen Up along with my pals, BuzzSugar and lilsugar — after all, the movie included the super cute Dug, so I was there. Without giving any major plot points away, my favorite things — the "cone of shame," a walker's tennis ball used for fetch, and the collar translator for stream-of-consciousness pup voice — outweighed the negatives (some birdie abuse, "bad dogs," and one scary scene for animal lovers). All in all, the 3D graphics were stunning, and it's an animated film, so no creatures were actually harmed in the making! Check out some of my favorite movie pics below — will you watch?

Ellen Pompeo Takes Off With Gigi But Where's Valentino?

When it's time to fly the friendly skies, I say no dogs left behind! But in this case, one pooch is missing. Sad. Ellen Pompeo and her husband Chris Ivery left LA yesterday with the snuggly Gigi! Their furry family also includes a brown Toy Poodle named Valentino, but I see he's not bitten by the travel bug.

What else did I spot? A Sherpa — the same exact one that Mickey totes his pups in (Leighton has it in green and Christina in the Legacy pattern). Lucky dog.

There's Three Times the Baby Jaguar Fun With New, Cute Cubs

OK, so I haven't been to Germany since I was 13, but the loads of furry fun I keep spotting from this country makes me want to plan a Summer trip. Meet three Berlin babes — lil jaguars born just five weeks ago. Now, a sucker for the cute like me surely couldn't let this moment pass without adding a whole gallery of their flowery romp. Jaguars up in arms, jaguars nestled in baskets, jaguars squirming around . . . right into my heart.
