A 2-Ingredient Cranberry Mask That Smooths and Brightens

Check out this simple, smart, and seasonally appropriate cranberry facial recipe from OnSugar blog Beautiful Basics: Cranberries are not only healthy, tasty, and a Thanksgiving staple, they are also full of skin-beneficial ingredients.

Check out this simple, smart, and seasonally appropriate cranberry facial recipe from OnSugar blog Beautiful Basics:

Cranberries are not only healthy, tasty, and a Thanksgiving staple, they are also full of skin-beneficial ingredients. If you want a really great (and easy to make) skin treatment, just follow these super simple instructions.

What you need:

  • Half a cup of fresh cranberries
  • Half a cup of warm water
  • Puree the cranberries in a blender and strain. You need the liquid from the berries, not the chunks of fruit. Combine the water and cranberry juice and soak a washcloth or some cotton pads in the mixture. Apply the saturated cloth or cotton to your face (avoiding the delicate eye area). Sit back and relax for about 15 minutes before rinsing with warm water. This will make your skin a little brighter and smoother, plus it’s an excuse to lay back and do nothing for a small chunk of time. Enjoy!

Sephora Collection Liquid Eyeliners Are a Win For $10

We're always interested in how liquid eyeliner performs, and recently OnSugar blogger LesleyKat did a really thorough review of Sephora's house brand liquid liner.

We're always interested in how liquid eyeliner performs, and recently OnSugar blogger LesleyKat did a really thorough review of Sephora's house brand liquid liner. Check it out:

Sephora Collection Liquid Eyeliner is a great find for any beauty buff. It's on the low end of the price range of eyeliner you'll find on the shelves of a Sephora store. But does it perform? That all depends on what  you're looking for in a liner.

Lately a bunch of brands have come out with new formulations and colors of liquid eyeliners. I'm not sure exactly how long Sephora's version has been around, but I don't think they're newbies. When I wear these I get lots of compliments on the colors.

A Puffy Eye Fix

We like OnSugar blogger At First Blush's quick thinking when it comes to puffy eyes.

We like OnSugar blogger At First Blush's quick thinking when it comes to puffy eyes. Check out how she made being sleep deprived look good:

It was a crazy weekend. I helped a friend with her wedding and then attended on Saturday, my best friend got engaged, and a few college friends were in town. Lack of sleep is an understatement; when I woke up on Sunday morning, my eyes were so puffy!

I was not happy — I mean, this doesn't normally happen to me! I applied a bit of anti-puff gel (the Ole Henriksen above, from a friend) and was amazed. They immediately felt less puffy. Then I moisturized and applied concealer. They weren't back to normal, but it was close to perfect!

Manicure Monday: OPI Barefoot in Barcelona

Thanks to Kate Middleton, nude nails are all the rage.

Thanks to Kate Middleton, nude nails are all the rage. It's a chic look, and it goes with everything. Just check out this pretty nude-colored manicure, featured on OnSugar blog Colored Glass: "[OPI's Barefoot in Barcelona] was my first nude crème — I bought it mainly because I love Barcelona, but I'm so glad I got it! It's pretty unique in my opinion, and it doesn't clash with my skin tone," she said. It's a fresh look, and we love her glittery topcoat on just one nail.

To get a gorgeous barely there manicure of your own, try Butter London Nail Polish in Hen Party ($14) or Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure polish in Nude Now ($7) — and for darker skin tones, SpaRitual Nail Lacquer in Can You Dig It ($10) is a great pick.

Check out Chanel's latest "It" polish, a gorgeous gold and green holographic shade, featured on OnSugar blog Beautopia:

From the Fall 2011 Illusions d'Ombres collection from Chanel comes Peridot, which is one of three polishes available. I very seldom cave in and buy Chanel polishes unless they seem very unique. The last two I've bought (Kaleidoscope and Paradoxal) met these requirements for me and I was very pleased with them, so I went ahead and jumped; and as usual, I'm glad I did.

How to Get Rid of Lingering Nail Polish Stains

Lemons are good for more than just iced tea and meringue pies.

Lemons are good for more than just iced tea and meringue pies. OnSugar blogger Beautiful Basics tells us how to get rid of pesky nail polish stains with the citrus fruit.

I know I’ve posted a lot about the power of lemons in the past, and today’s post is no stranger to the yellow citrus fruit that I love so much! In the Spring and Summer I never go bare — nail wise, that is. I always have to have a bright, fun color on my toes and fingers. If you’re like me, you may notice that sometimes bright, or even dark nail polishes, can stain the surface of the nail and leave a not so pretty mess behind.

Well, lemons are the easy fix for stains. All you have to do is cut a lemon in half and stick your nails in it for five minutes. This trick will help brighten your nails instantly, leaving you with a stain-free natural nail! Easy, huh? Now you can feel free to experiment with stubborn colors this upcoming season!

Learn This Andy Warhol-Inspired Manicure For Spring

Here's a lovely Andy Warhol-inspired floral manicure post from OnSugar blogger Beautopia: This was a design I did a few months ago that I really loved.

Here's a lovely Andy Warhol-inspired floral manicure post from OnSugar blogger Beautopia:

This was a design I did a few months ago that I really loved. It's basically ripped off completely from Warhol's "Flowers." The colors on my nails don't show well since I used some neons, but they basically looked exactly like the ones in the left part of this picture. I used China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy, Essie Bright Tights and Shorty Pants, and Nubar Pink Cream for the flowers with a large dotting tool. The base is black with OPI Who the Shrek Are You flicked on with a brush to look like the grass. I also took a very small dotting tool without any polish to dot around the inside of some of the flowers to reproduce the little specks in the original. What do you guys think? have you ever tried to re-create a favorite work of art before? What piece would you love to see reproduced for nails?

Learn This Dazzling Fuchsia and Fade-to-Gold Manicure

OnSugar blogger Lesleykat always has the cutest nail art ideas, like this one, inspired by Indian textiles.

OnSugar blogger Lesleykat always has the cutest nail art ideas, like this one, inspired by Indian textiles.

To achieve this fade-to-gold manicure, Lesleykat began by applying two coats of Zoya's Areej, a creamy fuchsia pink, as a base. Next, she added two sheer layers of Petites by Scherer nail polish in Universe, a sheer gold shimmer with gold flakes. To deepen the gold near the cuticle, she then applied Gosh's Gold nail polish, followed by a couple of layers of Sally Girl's Gold Glitter (which has both small and large hexagon-shaped glitters) to the entire nail. A swipe of Seche Vite topcoat provided hold and shine.

A DIY Foot Scrub That's Quick, Easy, and Affordable

Here's a quick and easy DIY foot scrub post from OnSugar blog Beautiful Basics.

Here's a quick and easy DIY foot scrub post from OnSugar blog Beautiful Basics.

When my feet are feeling more like alligator skin than feet, I whip up a batch of my favorite foot scrub ever! It helps my feet look and feel their best. All you need is:

  • Olive Oil
  • Brown Sugar
  • Sea Salt

I don't have specific measurements for you because I just make it by feel. You'll know what I'm talking about when you make up your own. You don't want it to be too thick, or too runny. You also want more brown sugar than sea salt. Rub onto your damp feet and massage for as long as you'd like. It feels lovely, albeit a bit tickly for those with sensitive feet, like myself. When you rinse, you'll have the smoothest feet you have ever had. I guarantee it!

How to Find Your Signature Scent

Here's an excerpt of a post from OnSugar blog Beauty and the Budget on how you can sniff out the perfect perfume.

Here's an excerpt of a post from OnSugar blog Beauty and the Budget on how you can sniff out the perfect perfume.

Before Christmas, I wanted to change my signature scent. I went to Nordstrom and sampled several fragrances. I was eyeing Dior's Miss Dior Cherie and Marc Jacobs' Lola, but you'll be surprised what I ended up with — a $20 bottle of Wish Pink from Victoria's Secret. Sure, it was a gift, but I ended up really liking it! So naturally I was disappointed that the scent was discontinued. So, I'm back to square one — whiffing coffee beans at department stores in between sampling perfumes.

So how do you really shop for perfume? How do you know what fragrance is right for you? And should you really take your partner's preferences into consideration?
