Danica was the result of someone's purbred getting it on with a stray, so she was a stray. Well, they lost out on a wonderful kitten because my husband's friends found her and another kitten and I got to keep Danica. The first time I seen her she meowed at me and ran up to me and that was it. A lot of people I was talking to about her were grossed out because she was a stray and she filfthy and blah blah blah. Well, I got rid of those "friends" and now Danica and I share a great bond together.
One of my cats I found on the side of the highway as a kitten and the other we adopted through our local spca and petsmart at around 10 weeks. love them both! :)

children that come from the mom that i came out of the store :)
Tiger came from the local humane society where they don't put them down. I had a beautiful white/tortie siamese named Sophie and after her we adopted Tiger as a playmate. Unfortunately, we had to get rid of her as she was spraying, despite her being fixed. We tried again with another female because Tiger was lonely, and chubby Lily came about. She started spraying as well, not sure if it was a territorial issue. Needless to say, I kept in contact with the humane society ensuring my girls did find a home, which they did and rather fast. Tiger is now a happy fat cat with 2 spunky Boston terriers.
i got my cat Tia 4 years ago for free from a local newspaper add she was still so young that she really should not of yet been taken from her mother but we did not know that now she clings to me as if i am her mother she is the most adorable cat. I travel alot about once or twice a month for a week at a time and when i cant take her i leave here home with my mom. and my mother calls me and Tia will be crying on the other end of the phone and sometimes she will lay in my bed and cry when im not there or she cant find me.
I got Mimi from a friend who had too many pets.
I "rescued" my cat from a college student who had him in his dorm room but couldn't take him home for the summer.
ASPCA day 2008!
I picked animal shelter, because that's where most of them have been from. Three of our current four came from the same shelter (two littermates as kittens, and one as a 3-yr-old), and the two older cats we had previously came from a shelter when they were kittens. Our youngest found us, however; two of my husband's coworkers found him alone and crying in the rain, and he ended up coming home with us. (We checked with the shelter and by looking for 'lost kitty' announcements to make sure he wasn't being looked for, but never saw nor heard anything.)
a ditch :)
A co-worker had my kitten first, but she was severely allergic, so I offered to take her so that she wouldn't end up in a shelter.
My cat sorta adopted me, I gave him some food once after my other cat died and he's been here ever since.
My brother and his friend found a cat and kept her in our building's basement. They fed her down there. She became pregnant and then she had the babies and they put her by the garbage in a box. Other kids down the block took cats and/or took care of them while they were in the box. One cat stayed at my house because the next day my sister was going to take him to her friend's house. She couldn't keep him. We asked if we could keep him and my grandmother finally said yes. We gave him to my sister's friend and she trained the cats. I guess I should have said kittens. Anyway, that is where my kitties came from. I have no idea where the mom went, but she was kinda ours. We just weren't allowed to keep her in the house.
K is For Kait
There's a great no-kill shelter in our area where my bf and I got our cat.
I got my Hey Arnold from a Kennel eleven years ago. When we were searching for the perfect kitten to get home, my mom held him the whole time and he didn't try to get down or anything, so we picked him. After that day, no one could hold him for longer than thirty seconds without him trying to make his way back to the ground! So I guess he really knew how to get into a good home by acting like he enjoyed being held, eh? We wuv him dearly anyway.
We found our first kitty outside on our neighbor's porch in our apartment complex. It was pouring rain and dark outside, and we were leaving to go somewhere and heard her meowing (thankfully, my hubby has amazing hearing!). She was just a few days old, and we found out later her mom and siblings had been taken to the shelter but she got left behind (her mom had started moving the litter and had only gotten her moved). Thankfully, Petsmart was open and we could get some KMR and a bottle for her. Then she needed a friend to teach her how to be a cat, so we got another kitten from the shelter.
I had lost my cat (of 13 years) and I was SO down. About a month later my son came home with a little white kitten in a shoe box. How sweet of him. ^^ One of his friends (from school), his cat had a litter of kittens. She was the last one.
Most of the kitties we've had came either from the humane society or we rescued them other ways. We adopted Amy and Nicki because we saw an ad in the paper that a couple had older cats that they had to give up because of their daughter's severe allergies. We adopted another kitten, Max, after he followed us home from the beach. We found out that a neighbor had dumped his whole litter on the street to fend for themselves. We did purchase Jasper, however. His mama was a Persian show cat and had gotten out and gotten pregnant by a stray in our neighborhood. Her owner was very annoyed that her precious show cat had given birth to these impure kittens, but we thought they were absolutely beautiful, so we bought one from her for $30 bucks.
my first cat came from a vet my friends worked at. she was found on the streets with her brothers and someone brought them in to be cared for by the vet. our second cat came from a friend of a friend whos cat had a litter.
i adopted my cat from petsmart's adoption program. i think it's silly to get a pure bred cat and/or plan ahead and wait for a kitty litter. and, i'd never buy a pet from a pet store - talk about just asking for a sick pet. there are always a ton of cats in need of good homes and while the older ones might not be as cute as the kittens - they are just as lovable and in need of love.
Both of the cats I had growing up (they still live with my parents) were strays. My dad found them in a gas station next to some shrubbery!
Mine was a stray that was living at the pool at my apartment complex, drinking pool water and catching roaches (the giant, texas-sized ones...I don't know if she actually ate them, since she's really picky and a lousy hunter). She was around for a few weeks and just kept getting skinnier, so I finally relented and took her to the vet, then made her part of the family.
Fiona was adopted from the Humane Society. A year later, I was at Waffle House late-night and I heard a kitten crying in a storm drain on a busy street, so my friends and I stopped traffic, pulled him out of the drain and rushed him to the emergency vet clinic. Once he was healed of his various injuries he came home with me. No creature loves its person like a rescued creature.
All of ours are rescues from the shelter. How could anyone go to a pet store or breeder when some many homeless animals need homes!!!!
Three were from the Humane Society, and one was a rescue at a vet hospital. So many need homes! :(
