Next in our Best of 2008 year-end roundup, I've thought back to some of the more bizarre stories that we've seen on PetSugar this year. Now I've featured some rather quirky things – but those listed below immediately came to my mind as tops on the uniqueness scale. Can you pick just one fave from the choices below?

I never thought that ANYONE would chew their pet's food for them to eat - YUCK! Do you have any idea how UNSAFE that is - For the pet?! Some studies done over the years at respectable universities & medical labs have shown instances where the human mouth holds between 38-43% MORE GERMS than a DOG'S MOUTH?! Anyway, I chose "putting panties on your pet" because that was the only one dealing with clothes. I just find the whole thing very disturbing & childish - I'm not saying I never tried it myself - I WAS a KID at the time, though. The cats & (later) dog I had would go nuts trying to get them off: rolling on the floor, biting at the material, etc. My mom would take them off, & only then would my pet calm down enough to BE a pet. She would than say sternly, "If pets were meant to wear clothes they wouldn't have fur & they'd be born HUMANS."

The chewing thing is the weird bit. The rest are odd, yes, but not nearly as odd as pre-chewing your pet's food. Hellfire, if they've got dental issues, give them canned food, or soften it with water or broth. The lifegem thing seems strange, but not really that bad, if you ask me. I see it as a significantly more expensive but similar sentiment to having your pet's pictures in a locket. Cloning to me is....not a good idea, but that's just because a cloned animal is biologically identical to the original one, not in personality. Pet undies are, indeed, totally utilitarian...otherwise WEEEIRD. Dog trailers? If you've only got a bike, and you need to take your pup along, it's sure safer than having the pup on the bike with you. And a snack pack? It's a good way of knowing how many calories are going into your pup...human treats and pet treats all have calories, and you don't want an obese pet any more than you want to be obese, right?

Chewing your dogs food is gross. Panties is quite weird too. The trailer on the motorcycle is sweet but dangerous.

I understand doggie undies for dogs that go into heat, it's silly, but hey, we have the same thing happen to us. But chewing a dogs food? Seriously that is just crazy.

Okay, when my doggy doggy was a puppy, my mom would chew little chunks of fruits and feed her. Also when she got her first period, we were recommended by our vet to put her into little doggy panties with tiny sanitary pads. I guess my family can be a bit over the top, but at least we don't dress the dog up and act obnoxious in public.

'putting panties on your pet' - while some may buy these because they think they are cute ... there are those of us who own these because we own bitches who go into heat. and, while you can buy ones that are 'cute', they are for practical purposes rather than attire. out of all the options - i would say 'chewing the animal's food' is the most bizarre. that's why there is water - to soften it. we're not birds ... we don't need to chew it and then feed it to them!
