Feb 11 2013 - 3:25am

Bring on the cheers! Westminster Kennel Club [1] welcomes two new breeds to join this year's dog show, and they're sure to be crowd favorites. Gearing up to win best in show, the Treeing Walker Coonhound and the Russell Terrier will be joining the other dogs primping and prepping behind the scenes. On the show, airing Feb. 11 and 12, both breeds are joining a large number of other high-ranking dogs in the hopes of capturing the judges' attention during this year's Westminster [2] Kennel Club Dog Show. Russell Terrier: Ultimate Working Dog

These little pups have compressible chests, which allows them to hunt quickly and efficiently underground. And with their compact bodies and strong disposition, Russell Terriers are determined workers and hunters.

Russell Terrier: An Old Breed

Dating back to the 1800s, this English-bred dog was used for fox hunting and was often carried on horseback in a special bag during hunts.

Russell Terrier: Good Pal

With a predominately white wiry coat accented with black or brown patches, Russell Terriers are pack hunters, nonconfrontational, and seriously loyal. This makes the small dog a great family pet or perfect for apartment living.
