Love It or Leave It? Braided Pigtails For Adults

Pigtails are usually a style reserved for those under 10, but actress Tracee Ellis Ross of Girlfriends fame updated the look in a way that is far from juvenile.

Pigtails are usually a style reserved for those under 10, but actress Tracee Ellis Ross of Girlfriends fame updated the look in a way that is far from juvenile. For the First Ladies Reception last night, she paired her staple red lipstick with a casual braided hairstyle. From the front it looks like a classic milkmaid style, but her natural curls were actually twisted into two separate pigtail plaits that started off-center on top of her head and wrapped around her face. Do you think this style is prepubescent, or would you give it a go?

Tracee Ellis Ross wore a pretty purple Grecian-inspired gown to tonight's festivities. Notice how the color complements her skin tone to perfection. For accessories, the actress adorned herself with artsy gold earrings and strappy copper sandals. Are you digging it?

Found! Tracee Ellis Ross Chooses Mendota

Tracee Ellis Ross (star of Girlfriends) takes her cute pooch for a walk after lunching at Fred Segal yesterday.

Tracee Ellis Ross (star of Girlfriends) takes her cute pooch for a walk after lunching at Fred Segal yesterday. I'm surprised to see her opting for a polypropylene, roped Mendota leash. Most popular in the agility and obedience rings, they have a broken-in, gentle-on-the-hands feel — and come in a rainbow of 21 radiant color combinations (she sports Salt & Pepper). As an added perk, even though it appears to be a sunny day in LA, this leash is great for those rainy ones, too — the solid-braid webbing is waterproof and colorfast showing no performance loss, runny colors, or fading when wet. If you're just walking around town like these two, the snap leash ($13.95) is preferred but, if you're getting a pooch into the competition circuit, check out the slip, show, and martingale versions as well.
