Still Scared of Stairs?

Look at all those stairs! Many doggies get intimidated when they're too steep for little paws – even with a pal waiting at the bottom, it can be a scary procedure. Check out this little Boxer pup deciding to navigate her way down for the first time. Aww, as Tiny displays, taking that first step is often the hardest.

Are your pets still scared of the stairs?

Sorry, I'm in the minority here. I think the owner was cruel to do that. Clearly, the puppy was frightened and had anxiety. Would the owner have done that if it was a human baby who was crying and whimpering?? That owner was lucky that the puppy did not tumble down the stairs, and hurt herself. :IRK: :IRK:

our big dog never had a problem doing stairs, although now that she's kinda old she hesitates for a second before charging up or down them. our little dog has no problem doing the carpeted, closed off stairs to our second floor but absolutely refuses to go on the wooden, open stairs into our basement. if you go down into the basement he'll sit and wail at the top until finally you go up and carry him down lol

Omg that video is so adorable! My chihuahua is so tiny, but he flies up and down the stairs! I'm always so afraid he's going to slip and go tumbling. Sometimes he does trip going up, since he really has to jump, haha.

We have a finished basement with a rec room and several other rooms. Our one dog loves to go up and down the stairs and will knock you over if you are in her way! Our other dog has only gone downstairs two or three times. He just hates the stairs. Luckily, our house has everything else on one level, so he doesn't really miss anything by not going downstairs.

for the longest time Raja wouldn't go up or down. When she goes up the stairs now though- she has to be leaning against the left wall, otherwise she refuses to go.

Roxy had no problem going up the stairs the first time but man, getting her down the stairs was a process. The first morning we had her I woke up especially early so we could go out for a walk and take her out to pee. Twenty minutes and a few bribe treats later, she decided she could no longer "hold it" and peed on the carpet. Good times. Two years later, she rips up and down those stairs like nobody's business.

when we had our basset hound, he would walk up the stairs very slow and coming down, he'd do it sideways, one step at a time and swing his entire body on each step!

I had a Rottie/Lab & Great dane mix that loved to walk up and down the stairs in my townhome. He would swing is butt from side to side and turn around to look at it. It was quite cute.

My cockapoo, Dodger, will go up the stairs like a champ but going down he won't start going down unless I start walking down the stairs. He also has to be to my right or he feels uncomfortable. After we both get going he's fine though.
