Keep Out or Come On In — Are Any Rooms Off-Limits to Pets?

Somebody's made himself right at home from the looks of it! Then again North typically also has free reign of my home but, if I leave without putting him in the crate, I'm sure to shut the doors to the living room and bedroom.

It just took one accident when he dug through my bag for a pack of gum in an interior pocket when he was a puppy to teach that lesson (and I'm still grateful it wasn't sugar-free). Now whether or not you use protection, is your pet ever banished from certain rooms of the house?

My two house cats have free reign of the house because it keeps the mice away and when you live in the country you get alot of mice! One cat is 18 years old so she only stays in my Dads room. She is his baby. My three dogs have the reign of the house only because they dont chew, destroy, or get into anything so I really dont worry. With that said we also do not allow anything in the house that may hurt them like certain cleaners, rat poison, etc. We also do not allow them to drink from the toilet so we keep the lid down. LOL. Just common sense stuff. We call them the four legged family and they call us their two legged family :) So true.

Our cats have free reign unless we have guests. Then we close the guest room door. I do attempt to keep them off the counters in the kitchen for sanitary reasons. I also don't want them on my pillows, but sleeping on the blanket is fine.

My dog is only allowed into the bedroom at night, otherwise he has full reign of the house. He likes to chew on my clothes, so I don't like him in the bedroom if he's not in his crate.

My animals rule my house. lol. But if I'm not home I shut my bedroom door because I have had tooo many things chewed because of my Australian cattle dog!!

My dog knows he's only allowed to be downstairs, so in the living room, hallway and kitchen. He's also not allowed in the kitchen/dining area when we are preparing food / eating. So then we sent him to the living room and he knows that so he usually goes by himself. We taught him that he's not allowed to go up the stairs to the bed rooms and other rooms since he was a pup so he never really goes up there. The only times when he does go upstairs is on rare occasions when gets scared from fireworks or thunder.

My dog can go almost everywhere EXCEPT into the bathroom, or into my parents room. Also, i have to keep my dog in my room when we're eating in the kitchen or living room.

My cats have total free reign. The dog is restricted to about half of the house (away from the rooms where we keep the cats litter and food, and our bedroom). The cats sleep with us sometimes and I'm sure the dog thinks that is unfair, but he weighs 85 lbs and there just isn't room!

Sadie Grace won't go in a room she has not been in before with me. I've never brought her in the laundry room so she will not step foot in it. There are some things to love about timid dogs! It means the cat box is safe, and I never have to find out if she would sniff at it...or worse.

my cats have free reign to go as they please. the only time i limit them is when i'm cleaning the kitchen & bathroom floors and the shower. i don't like them being around cleaning agents and the ones for those rooms can be pretty strong so i lock them out during those times. other than that, they run the place. lol

Our cats are free except for our bedrooms; I have a pigeon in mine and my roommate's got rats so we keep the kitties out for safety's sake... I learned the hard way very young that small pets need their own spaces when my german shepherd ate my guinea pigs :(

The dogs can go pretty much go where ever they want, but I do keep the bedroom door closed. I have a dog that has a underwear fetish, so I don't let her in the bedroom when I am not with her.

my cat roxy can go in any room in the house, she gets locked out of my bedroom at night thought because she likes to bat things at me and wake me up! and my pup reggae is blocked from the hall where the cat food is and the kitchen other then that he can go anywhere, he always goes straight to the cats food and the trash big no nos in my house!
