The Scoop: Top 10 Dog Breeds of 2008
The bulldog wheezed and snorted his way to the number 10 spot for 2007, the first time in 70 years that this big smooshy made the list – did he do it again last year? Since we've already
shared our predictions for the most popular breeds, check out the official results based on 2008 AKC registration statistics released today. Obviously, there are tons of unregistered and rescued pups that we love as well, but it's still fun to see if we often spot the same breeds on our daily walkies. Find the furry faces counting down to number one when you start this slideshow.

gotta love labs!
1such big sweet babies!
i like labs but where are the shelties and aussies???? too many little dogs made the list but i guess people want easy to care for pups that don't require much exercise or mental stimulation.
2I ♥ my papillon to death but i do miss my yorkie (died after 16 years) she was the best dog EVER!!
3Rally RE, I agree. I have an Aussie, and lately I've started noticing them everywhere. They're definitely gaining in popularity, with good reason -- mine is the best dog in the world! (But I may be a little biased.)
4Too bad that this only counts "registered" breeds. If you counted dogs by majority type, Baltimore would definitely have pit bull as one of its top 10- because we're a compassionate city that adopts, not kills.
5I love my rescued mixed breed!
I love my pug, he's the best.
