This is Kaci, proud pup of ShinyCrazy. Not only is Kaci totally adoro (as you can see from the rest of her pics), but she brings up a good question: Do all dogs eventually get "Frog Legs"? See her legs in this piccy — spread out behind her like a frog? What is up with that!? I'm guessing it keeps bellies cool on the grass, but it sure does give me the giggles!

Congrats to Kaci and ShinyCrazy for being chosen for our Pet Pic of the Day! Be sure to submit your photos to our Pet Pics group for a chance to see your pet make an appearance on PetSugar!

adorable!! And no I do not think all dogs get "frog legs" but I do think that all female dogs do! I have seen so many female dogs do this, but haven't seen any males do it! Maybe its because something gets in the way!
1My dog gets them, but my parents' dog does not!
2Samson has frog legs!!
3Benji does his frog legs all the time, especially if he's hot or chewing on a ball!
4B-Bop does it when he's hot, I love it. I call it superman, because it looks like he should be flying!
5Both of my dogs do this lol. We call them chicken legs though, because they look exactly like little drum sticks.
6lucy has "frog legs" a lot. she'll even drag herself around the house sometimes, i call it her "army crawl".
7My puggles do that all the time to cool off. However my other dog who was a lot larger than them never did that or my parents dashhound doesn't do that either.
8Hahahaha my dog Scout does this when she's being sneaky. For example, the first time she met my husband's cat, she laid down a safe distance away, and then inched along like a lizard very gradually until she was close enough to lick the cat's face.
9My toy poodle does this, but my mother's toy poodle does not - both are female. Mine is also much more active than my mother's, so I think it is a way to help them cool down.
101 of my dogs has them all the time, the other 2 I haven't seen it yet
11Both my dog and my cat do this, but the cat might have picked it up from the dog.
12My male (neutered) dog does this, but not my female. I think it's comfortable for them. The ultimate in stretching out and relaxing. He also drags his legs behind him when he gets off the couch. We call it "lazy legs".
13My dog Scout has never done that, but maybe some dogs do it because they like the grass on their tummies.
14my doggie always sits in the frog dog position- i guess he's just comfy that way. i didn't realize that everyone called this position fog dog- i guess i thought i was unique
15mm. max doesn't do that..but it is really cute!
16Harley mostly uses his frog legs when he's chewing on a toy. Its so funny and weird. =) it looks a little like doggie yoga

18My Baylee sits like this a lot too, when she's just hanging around inside the house. We call her "Dogger" sometimes because she makes us think of Frogger.
19How funny . . when our dogs (and cats) do this, we always call it "froggin". I agree that I think it's a way for them to cool off. (Or is it a form of yoga?)
20My male dog Jack does this! and he hasn't been neutered yet! I always feel so bad for his "jewels"... lol! Sometimes he will even drag himself in that position to get more confortable or reach a toy... ouchie! lol
21many smaller breeds of dogs have floating knee caps and laying with their legs like this helps pop them back into place! that is an explanation our vet gave about my maltese laying like this!
22Viva has frog legs. Especially after a long walk, the first thing she does when she gets home is spread out on the cool tile! Sooo adorable!
23wow i didnt know there was term. My mini schnauzer does this all the time and everyone that sees it laughs!! I always thought he was just unique. haha.
