I can't stress enough the need of securing a pet during car travel but I know many people don't have a crate or belt to strap in a large pooch. So that's where the Zip Line Dog Car Harness ($40) comes in. This new product from Brookstone (makers of North's seat) will let your pooch roam freely in the backseat or rear of an SUV but still securely holds him in case of sudden stops.

Operating like a zip line between rear seatbelt handles, your dog can move back and forth but not climb out the window or fly forward into the front seats. And, for furry families on the go, the included, padded harness can be detached from the zip line and added to a seat belt (for a more secure fit) or even straight to the normal leash for walkies!

OMG - I totally need this. Whenever I attach my dog using the regular seatbelts, she gets all twisted up in them. Attaching it to the ceiling is brilliant!
1i def. see the need for this since we have two big dogs--but it looks like a torture device!!
2This is smart but I'm finding the picture hilarious!
3this is cool, but very funny
4I already seatbelt my dog in and he does get twisted up sometimes so this is a great idea...but are those handles above the doors really strong enough to keep a flying dog secure in a crash?
5Ingenious!
6I need this! Thanks Pet Sugar! I have tried using seatbelts for my big dog, but he always gets them twisted. My little dog rides in her crate in the car.
7I have a bamboo leash that doubles as seatbelt. One side hooks to her harness and the other latches to the seatbelt...works like a charm!
8OMG!! I need that one right now!!!!
9This is a really smart idea!
