I just moved 2 weeks ago. My dog got put in a room when the front door was open and boxes/furniture were being moved out. She's not the type who will stick around, she'll run out the door and keep going.
I have a 50 pound dog, 3 chinchillas, and a rabbit. Moving with them can be a hassle, but I think we've got it down now. Went from California to Texas (1,400 miles) last year, Texas to Florida (800 miles) this time. When we stopped, we offered them water, made sure their cages were covered from the sun, air was on full blast, dog was seat belted in, all went well :)
we are also moving in a few weeks with our cat...we didn't have her last time we moved, so any advice is welcome :) i guess we'll just keep her in the bedroom while we pack the truck. luckily it's just a 5-hour car drive, but she's only ever been in the car for the 10-minute drive to the vet
I moved last summer: big time! LOL
The D Day, my dog Polka stayed at my parents' house ;)
It was the best option for her because she was in a quiet place ;)
I'm actually going to be moving in a few weeks, so this topic has perfect timing. :P I keep my animals locked in a room while moving. Last time I moved, I just had one cat. This time, I have two. They don't get along the best, so I'll probably have to have them in separate rooms.
