Jon and Kate Plus 8 Do Tell: What's the Weirdest Thing Your Pet Ate?

Ever since the Gosselins' new puppies made their TV debut, I've been tuning into Jon and Kate Plus 8 to see how the large family adjusts to the growing dogs. Not only can I now ace the fun quiz on lilsugar, but it gave me an idea for a post, too. In case you missed the episode, I've pasted a clip where the family sees just what the pooch ate on an X-ray – check it out below.

my cat eats socks and hair ties! Last night she threw up half an athletic sock and two hair ties. I called the vet about the socks, concerned that she had a vitamin deficiency and I should be giving her a supplement. I asked,"What should I do?", he said, "Um, hide your socks..." Thanks for that...

One time, Cara ate a whole plate of raw kebabs, stick included. We called the vet and he just told us to feed her hydrogen peroxide to make her throw them back up again...

We had ribs for Sunday dinner and Prince grabbed a bone (5 " long!) and swallowed it before I could reach in and grab it. I was very worried it wouldn't pass, so called the Vet. He said suck up about 1/2 to 1 cup hydrogen peroxide, (depending on size of dog) in a turkey baster, force feed it down Prince's throat, grab him around his middle and shake to agitate, and in about 1-2 minutes it should come back up. It sounded like a volcano getting ready to erupt, but sure enough, up it came. Gross!

My dog is also a fan of eating underwear! Usually, she would either throw them back up or poop them out, but one weekend she also ate a hair-tie. They got stuck together, and the hair-tie stayed in her stomach while the thong went into her intestines. All I have to say is that the vet staff at Chicago Veterinary Emergency Services are angels! I might have had to cancel my vacation to Florida, but I still have my pooch!

My dog has ate some weird stuff, but i work at a vet and the weirdest thing we had to take out of a dogs stomach was a pair of thong underwear and 2 tennis balls. All at once. Then he went home and ate the bandage covering his insicion. He had to go to surgery again.

We had a German Shepard that once ate a whole chicken and a pound of ground beef that I had left on the counter to thaw. The only evidence left was the plastic wrap from the chicken!

Once my dog got sick and she had to get x-rays. They found a bullet in her! Turns out before we rescued her, she had been shot and it wasn't eaten like they thought (I live in Baltimore... you can find bullets on the ground in the parks). My dog before her ate rocks all the time though. He was a big lab though and ended up just fine. Nothing fazed his iron stomach including an entire chocolate rabbit.

Aphrosette, that is so sad about your neighbor's dog! We were very lucky, and our dog seems to have made a full recovery. I have no idea how much she ate, but she is only 8 lbs, and I have even read that dogs can have a reaction just from licking some species of mushrooms. It is so scary! And they grow so fast that they can just pop up overnight!

About a zillion snails, an entire lavender bush, a cactus, a couple CD cases, half a Sharpie, and I've had to call poison control once for each of them for potpourri oil and grapes.

i once bought some special soil to put around flowers that keeps away dogs, because my husky sometimes eats flowers. however, when i held it out for him to see and said "no" firmly (as was instructed on the bag) he ate the soil!

ladyr you're lucky...that happened to my neighbor in their backyard. The never made it to the vet (a 5 min drive) their poor pug passed away in the car on the way there....I hope your dog is still doing well.

A couple years ago, my smaller dog, Tara, ate a wild mushroom at the park. I was just walking along with her right by my side when she suddenly collapsed, her eyes rolled back in her head, and she started throwing up and going potty uncontrollably. It was terrifying!! Thankfully I had my cell phone on me so that I could call my boyfriend to come pick us up and drive us to the emergency vet hospital (we had walked to the park). I was afraid she might die before we made it to the hospital because she was so unresponsive and she wasn't breathing well. She made it, and tests determined that she had most likely ingested a mushroom. She is very low to the ground and must have plucked it out of the grass as we were walking. I am very grateful that she pulled through that day. It was so awful to see her like that!

We had a beagle that once ate a bar of peach scented soap and then a roll of Tums. It was the combination of the two that we thought was funny. The same 20 lb. dog also managed to drag an unopened 30 lb. bag of dog food across the room, rip it open, crawl in and eat an unbelievable amount of kibble. And she was upset when she didn't get fed that night!

I had a dog that ate a (baited) fishhook once. It was still attached to the fishing pole. We just cut the fishing line and took her to the vet. She was fine though, no surgery required.

My friend's dog has eaten rocks and had to had surgery so many times that the vet joked to them that he should just put in a zipper! They tried to make their yard safe but it's hard to get rid of rocks when he digs new ones up...now they have to walk him on a leash in his own backyard!

Hummm, lets see . . . Samson's eaten cigarettes, toys, rocks, acorns, poop, pillow fluff, and toilet paper — and this is what I've seen him eat! No surgery required yet, thank goodness!

I am sure they are not the only ones, but my boys both went through "poop eating" stages....other than that, they like the tipple at my parent's house for landscaping and kitty litter....no surgery required!
