Every day for Tolstoy, and every other for Pushkin. For some reason my boy just doesn't like to clean himself, and then our apartment becomes a sea of white tufts of fur! With the other I need two brushes, one to brush her out, and a second she can chew/fight/kill.
Usually about once a week for my two longhaired cats. But I read in a book that longhair cats should be brushed every day, so I'm trying to get in the habit of doing that. Even though my kitties don't really enjoy being groomed.
No choice with Oliver...every evening. He's a Persian, and on top of that, has an extremely thick coat. Thankfully, he loves his grooming sessions. All I have to do is catch his eye, wave the comb, and he comes thundering over to me! :)
Lola gets brushed 3-4 times a week. She's got long hair and it gets all matted up if she doesn't get brushed often, plus she hardly sheds because of it! We can only brush her for about 2 min at a time b/c she either eats the brush or runs away lol.
Nootie (outside kitty) gets brushed once or twice a week b/c she sheds really bad.
Bubba gets brushed once of twice a month. He doesn't shed much and don't really like being brushed.
I have two itty bitty kittens (5 months), and everytime I brush them it turns into a fight over the kittens trying to taste / eat/ munch on the brush, as I am trying to brush, hehe, so cute.
kitty was brushed the other night and a zillion little kitties could have had coats with all the fur that came out. geez. if he isn't brushed, he rips out chunks of fur and leaves them around the house - almost demanding that someone brush him. he's very funny ... loves to brushed and cared for.
One of my cats was so fat he couldn't reach his back to lick it, so we had to comb it for him. It was ridiculous how much you could comb it and hair would still just come out, lol.
I brush my shorthair once a month or so just to cut down on shedding. The longhair needs to be brushed all the time, but she doesn't like it. I have to cut out her mats :(
