My Cavalier is a JERK to guests. She used to be nice, but when I was in college I got the opportunity to take her to work. She became a barking mess after that, because people would force themselves on her all day. They'd come behind the front desk when she was clearly hiding because she was exhausted. It was overkill, I guess. Now, she barks at everyone who isn't in her family. My husband's Weim barks until someone pets her, then she shuts up and wiggles, eating up the attention. My cat? Now, he's the weird one. He'll leap into people's arms when they come through the door. He LOVES everyone. I mean EVERYONE. And, he'll grab your face with both his paws and make you kiss him on the mouth. Poor guests don't believe me when I warn them...lol.

My kitty insists on being in the same room with everyone when we have company, but then hisses and swats when anyone comes near her! Hiding away would probably be an improvement...

Nope, not Zena. Zena will lie down next to my mom (or me) facing the guest (with her butt attached to my mom or me) and watch the guest looking for any ill intentions. She may have allowed you in, but she has one eye on you and one on her pack the entire time.
