Have You Ever Owned a Fish?

Arguably one of the easiest pets to care for – and definitely the quietest – fishies are the first pets of many children, and the only ones allowed in the rented apartments of many city-dwelling adults. I've had a ~~hand~~bowlful in my life, how about you?Source

At one point, I had a community of 5 female betta fish in a 10 gallon tank, and 6 individual (2.5 gallon) tanks each with a male betta fish in it. It was pretty neat, though quite a bit of work to do water changes once a week! Now I just have my puppy, Logan.

I never realised how 'slow' siamese fighters (betas) were until i got my other 6 goldfish! i have named all 7 of my fish- they seriously do have personalities i dont care what people say!

I don't now but I have had gold fish, bettas, freshwater and saltwater. I loved my saltwater tank but it was too much hassle for me and I gave it away.

I've had a few that never lasted that long. Everytime I change the water they only live for a few more weeks. Mm. And I clean the bowl and rocks how I should. Who knows what I'm doing wrong then.

I have had many goldfish over the years. We have 3 very large pond goldfish that are named Buffy, Willow and Xander. They could not winter in our pond because it wasn't deep enough so we bought them an aquarium. They have been inside for almost a year (we didn't want to put them outside in the pond again.)

I got a Beta freshman year in college because I missed having a pet and that was my only option. He was red and his real name was Morrigu. He lived five years! I brought him back home with me and eventually he just stopped eating. After two weeks of that he died and I buried him in the backyard. I'd like to have another one, but I travel a lot for work and don't know who I'd entrust him to. Plus, my dog is quite the handful.

I love bettas! they are very hardy! Although mine recently died, she lived for about 2 years or more!

I had 2 fish that I won at the fair. First pet at age 20. They died within 4 days :(. On a happy noteee I am now a proud owner of a puppy Black lab/Border Collie mix. His name is Pete. He has lived longer then 4 days. :)

I never wanted to, because I never felt it would be rewarding enough, since fish can't cuddle you.

I always had fish growing up, and most of them lived for a ridiculously long time. I don't have fish now, but when I moved out of my parents house they just got a pond and put some koi and a catfish in it. They are HUGE now and very pretty!

I've had a fish tank for as long as I can remember. All different sizes....from a 5 gallon all the way up to a 55 gallon. I had an Oscar once (named Oscar...go figure) and he ate any of the fish that would fit in his mouth. He grew to be about 8 inches long. One time I had to pry a fish that was too big out of his mouth! He'd also constantly jump out of the tank. I wish I could have a big enough tank for another Oscar :(

I've had all sorts of anonymous fish throughout my life. During high school, I had a pair of Beta in a tank with a clear divider, they were so gorgeous. Then we had a feeder goldfish that never got eaten, and he lived for about 5 years, and grew huge. We appropriately named him Godzilla. I also grew up with my grandparents having several aquariums, both freshwater & saltwater. I used to love watching the tropical fish, it was so calming. Unfortunately, they got rid of it all this last year, so no more fishies around.

I had a bunch of fish as a kid growing up and then in high school I rescued my goldfish that was being used as a subject in Bio and was going to get flushed. His name was Brody and he lived for 4 years!

we have five goldfish right now and have had them for years!!! they were feeders that never got eaten. they lived with a salamander for a few years in a half land half water tank with a waterfall and river, then the salamander died and now they have their own little tank. i didnt know they would outlive what was suppose to eat them . . . at least they are easy to care for not like the bunnies my uncle use to bring us when his snake wasnt hungry.

we have a fifty gallon tank with freshwater fish (tiger barbs, cherry barbs), as well as a little tiny bowl for my beta. the beta lives in my kitchen :)

I've had so many fish through out my life. My first(s) were freckles and sunshine, goldfish, who were eaten by my kitty ashes! Then there was Freddie, my goldfish that I kept in my brothers fish tank. When my brother upgraded to a larger fish tank, and got tropical fish, I got an Angel fish, and shocker I named her Angel. She was beautiful. I was so sad when she died that I cried. :'( Through out high school I had multiple goldfish, including Kitty and Turkey Sub. When I first moved out I had a 10 gallon tank, and I had tropical fish. I had many fish in there and can't remember them all, except my puffer fish, who again, I cried when they died. Later I down graded and got a goldfish tank with Eddie. Eddie was with me for 2 years, he was the best goldfish a girl could ask for. I've also has a couple betta fish.

I have a betta in an aquarium on my desk at work. It's nice to have a little guy around to watch, and because he's in my office, he gets the benefit of not getting eaten by my cats.

I had some tropical fish when I was young...hated the fish food, hated cleaning their tanks, hated when they got sucked into the filter. Luckily, I figured out pretty early that fish are not the pets for me! I'd rather handle the litterbox any day.

I had the beta fish in awesome liquor bottles all through my undergrad:) Well until I went to clean them and kept them in the little containers for a bit so they could calm down before another big move...and my kitty scooped them all out and ate them! No more fishies...or kitties hehe.

My dad had a 40 gallon tank with all sorts of tropical fishes when I was growing up. I used to have one goldfish that grew to an amazing size. He lasted about 6 years.
