Would this cute creature still seem sweet with any other name? In addition to the ever-popular moniker, guinea pig, these rodents have a couple other names in store. Be a guinea pig and see if you can sniff out the wrong answer.

They are good meat- we eat these where I am from also. I couldn't imagine keeping one as a pet!!

eruntale: I was going to mention that cuy needed to be added too! Im studing Andean archaeology right now and hang out with a lot of Andean archaeologists so I have heard all about eating cuy. People say that it is actually pretty good. I dont know if I could eat it

In the Andean countries (such as mine, Peru), we call them "cuy" (pronounce c-oo-ey). People from our Highlands regard them as a fine meat, while in the cities many are starting to keep them as pets. As for me, I can't stand thinking of them as food, they are so cute and cuddly!

I love guinea pigs soooo much! The fiancé and I took care of our friends' piggies when they were on vacation a while back, and I totally fell for them :) I love the way they squeak at you, and their "popcorning" thing of jumping and flailing around when they're super happy :D We're totally getting a pair of piggies soon!
