Sugar staffer LilPeaPod went on a recent vacay to Mexico, leaving little Samson with her mom for the week. Covering all her bases, she whipped up an "Owner's Manual" to let her mom in on all the things he's allowed to do, what to eat (and more importantly, what not to eat), as well as his sleep schedule so he can stay regular with his naps and playtime.

This totally sounds like something I would have done when I first became a dog mom, since I was kinda paranoid to leave him with other people who weren't familiar with his day-to-day behavior and quirks. So it made me wonder: Do you leave detailed notes when you leave your pets with a sitter or do you just leave the highlights?

When we went to Hawaii in March, we'd only had our dog for about four months. My fiance's sister volunteered to actually stay at our house and hold the fort, and our dog, down. We left her such long notes about what to do! And we definitely called or texted her about how he was doing. We're such proud dog-parents.

I have detailed instructions that I typed up and have an a sheet protector that I leave with Cuba's dog sitter. Even though my friend is the one watching him I still call everyday to check on him. My dog walker sends me pictures of Cuba on his daily walk! My dog walking service had me fill out a detailed sheet listing everything like carryin him down the stairs.

I've been leaving him with my boyfriend when I leave, so he knows the day to day. Before that, I would call and check on him daily to make sure that everything was okay.

I do this and then I get made fun of, LOL!! Oh well.

I leave ridiculously long notes when people come to care for my cat, Jack.

when we hired a professional pet sitter we did leave detailed notes but now that my girlfriend who is a professional dog walker/trainer has forever volunteered to watch our leetle baby we don't have to worry.

The 1st time I left Polka with my parents for the week end, I did the same thing! ;) I made a list of important things concerning her food, attitude, etc...

Nah, I just pack up some dog food and drop her off at the daycare.
