Do Tell: Does Your Pet Share Your Personality?

On days when I forget my iPod (today . . . sigh), totally random things pop into my head on a trip to work. As I pass plenty of pup/person pairings on morning walks, I began to wonder how much animal owners can affect their pets' personalities and how much is inherent in the creature, species, or breed.

Now I think North's spirited and could say the same thing about myself – we both go through bouts of animation followed by super-mellow chill times. Do you think your personality is contagious . . . or that your pet has rubbed off on you?

Billie Kitty is exactly like me. She's shy at first, cranky a little too often, but can be such a snuggle bug when she gets to know someone (human or feline). She's tougher than me, though. She's also much older, if we're talking cat years...she's 21 and I'm 28. Mean old lady!

i've never thought about my cats personality that way i've raised her to enjoy the company of humans, to associate us with basically spoiling her with love and gifts ;) shes a lapcat, and likes being touched, but on her terms. if shes not in the mood she wont put up with it. i dont know how that reflects on myself however...well, maybe shes also very easygoing, dosnt get aggrivated unless you really set out to bug her. same as me, what do you know?

My lil puppy is definitely a lot like me. He and I both are sometimes lazy but then have these giant bursts of energy and creativity. We are both smart, but stubborn. Plus we are both super cuddly and affectionate.

I have two dogs - one I've raised from a puppy and one we adopted when he was almost 2 years old. The one I've had since he was a baby is, basically, me in doggie form. He's so strange and neurotic (he always returns his toys to their storage place), but he loves affection and sleeps in his spare time. The other one has a very distinct personality from anyone else in our household. Maybe he's like one of his old owners, or maybe, he's just his own dog.
