A different kind of lovebirds, swans are oft-associated with love since they allegedly mate for life. Is that factoid really true? Test yourself on this (and more!) in a Cygnus quiz.

I grew up with a pond behind my house. We had a pair of mute swans that stayed year round and had a nest every year. They were very aggressive and had no problem attacking dogs, children, adults, regardless if they had (cygnets?) or not. I have a scar on my the top of my foot where a swan bit me when he started chasing me and I fell. To this day, swans and geese scare the crap out of me.
1Awww Yoga! A neighbor's goose attacked my brother when he was young. They can be ferocious!
2A pair of trumpeter swans nested at a park close to where I grew up. The park officials were soooo excited and went to great lengths to put signs and fences up to keep people and other animals away.
